Ok I'm useless at using apostrophes (see, should there be one there?)
I'm writing my dissertation and don't know where to put them except for in the case of missing letters such as don't/can't etc.
I'm stuck when it comes to things like "Dreamworks Shrek..." does there need to be one in "Dreamwork's"?
This guide to writing reports says:
So it should be Dreamwork's since there's just one Dreamwork...hmm hang on, the companies name is Dreamworks..so should it be Dreamworks's???The other thing to remember about apostrophes is that their position when indicating possession depends on and identifies whether the owner is a single entity or many. Writing the boy's book indicates that precisely one boy is involved, ie the book belongs to just one boy whereas the boys' book indicates that more than one boy is involved
Someone please explain, I'm stuck! Cheers
