    Italy?

Or if you like Wine, spend some time in the South of France, Bordeaux, Languadoc-Roussillon etc. Had some good holidays there. If you are more of a spirits person, the tours of Remy Martin in the Congac region are quite interesting

I heart Italy. My favourite holiday destination, been there the last 3 years and going again in May, definately recommend it. Stylish, warm, something for everyone.

I'm going to Nice for a month in July/August

No but seriously it's really nice and picturesque down the South coast of France, lots of quaint little villages to see and of course Monaco, Monte Carlo, St Tropez, Cannes etc, if you like that sort of thing.

Something different different, why not wait until winter and go on a skiing/snowboarding holiday instead?

How about Lyon in France ? Been there twice now , It is a great city lots of stuff to see both modem and ancient. I also recommend took a train ride to Geneva ( awesome sceneries of the Alps on the way there and back ) . Geneva is not a bad city either.

I always recommend Indonesia, but it's a bit of a mess at the moment, what with all the forest fires in Sumatra, mud lakes in Java and lots of public transport fatalities....

However, if you don't mind slinging a rucksack over a shoulder and taking the bus a lot, it's an incredible country with some unbelievable things to see. Even if you didn't leave the island of Java you'd be hard pressed to see 0.1% of what it has to offer in a two week holiday, and once you get there it's cheap as chips. But then the flight is expensive, and at about 18 hours too long for some people.

Are these business trips or just travelling around and only staying at each place a day or so? I mean how can you get time off work/uni/school?

Does it have to be abroad? For something very different and brilliant how about hiring a narrow boat and going for a weeks cruise along some of Englands canals. Amazing scenery, hugely relaxing and loads to see and do.

Obviously the weather over here can be a bit iffy but if you get a hot week (which we normally do in the summer) it will be a holiday to remember.

I'm at Uni, but I'm also in the Army (the real one, not the OTC...)
I love travelling, combine this with the oppurtunities that come with the job and my tendancy to always say yes, and I end up going to a lot of places!

They aren't all for one day, no.

USA (California) is 2 weeks, doing my Advanced Freefall Course.
Norway is 1 week, skiing with some friends.
I'm doing the student gumball rally (now called the Student Brakeaway), which takes me through Spain and France, about 5 days in each.
Then travelling around Europe in the summer, a couple of days at a number of cities, totalling 3 weeks in the other countries listed.
Another week in South France after.

I'll be booking more, too - Kenya and Italy are on the wish-list at the moment.

All this is much, much cheaper than you probably think.

To answer your time off question - everybody gets more time off than they think! A weekend is plenty enough to go away on a budget flight to Europe and stay in a hostel. Any longer breaks away from work that you get, there's no excuse really! I'm not going home this year for more than weekends really - I'm either at Uni having lectures, on training, or travelling somewhere.
Of course, to get the best deals you sometimes have to have a day or afternoon off to catch a train/flight, and Uni is far more flexible than work, but it's possible for anyone!

Twiglet - what other languages can you speak (if any)? How much can you afford? And how long are you going for?

I'd say if it's smallish budget, try Norway or similar. If you have more to spend, go on Safari in South Africa. That's been the best experience of my life so far!

May not be THAT much money, but still, for a student... I'm struggling to afford the month in Nice, nvm all the places you're going!

Anyway lucky you if you can afford it then!

Two places I have been in the last couple of years I cannot recommend enough are:

Talin: Estonia, a wonderful place. The old town is an absoloute pleasure to roam around. People are really friendly and it's very cheap! Can recommend hotel Wira it was right in the centre and cheap.

Easyjet fly to the airport which is just 10mins from the centre, alternativley Helsinki is only 1hr30 by high speed ferry.

    My gallery:

    http://www.doufos.co.uk/singapore/in...%20June%202006

Stockholm: Sweden. A really nice place, and a whole lot to see, everything is pretty much walking distance, you can get ferries etc to the other islands. Thre are also trips out to the Achipelligo. Stayed in a fantastic hotel Nordic Sea it's right next to the station where the Arlanda Express comes in. The breakfast range is out of this world.

Probably a cheap flight to france or another EU country, or drive through the Euro Tunnel then hire a caravan to drive around all the other countries.

This way you visit more of the locations, save on money i.e. for hotels and expensive meals and can fit back some duty free goods to sell off at the end to help pay for the holiday!

Otherwise a cruise would be great (last one I took was 14 days around 10 islands and country around the UK and it was great!)
    Woohoo now Assistant Manager!
