    Mmmmmmmm

How often do we get to scoff down a good full English then? And what goes into your perfect fry-up?

Just finished noshing one - couple of pork sausages, slowly fried until golden brown, couple of rashers of bacon as thick as my thumb, fried until slightly crispy, mushrooms (not tinned) quartered and boiled up in salted water, peeled plum tomatoes, chopped with (lots) of black pepper, fried egg with a yolk that runs when you break it and not before, Heinz beans.

Serve with buttered, thick sliced white bread, and a large mug of tea.

Now that is some good eatin, and no disgusting black pudding messing up the plate.

Lets have your perfect full English creations. Vegies – I will leave you to drool into your lentils.

i'm very much in favour of the "two of everything" style breakfast

the sausages have to be really thick and meaty, preferably a nice big cumberland ring

as above the bacon has to be really thick but not overcooked, i cant abide really crispy bacon

a couple of nice eggs with nice runny yokes to dip bits of sausage in

fried mushrooms are a must, Stewart how can you even contemplate boiled mushrooms

hash browns are always a winner as well, really nicely cooked so there really crispy and brown

    heinz beans is a must

a couple of slices of toast and a couple of slices of thick crusty buttered bread

a good pints worth of tea and a copy of the independant to finish off with

    damn.....i'm hungry now

Being Scottish I've regional variations, though you wouldn't tempt me with any form of "pudding", black, white or fruit. Mushrooms and tomatoes ? No ta.

At least 2 of everything, including large cuppas, one during, one after.

Must have fried bread. Toast ? Bread 'n' butter ? Pffft !
    Fried eggs
    Bacon
    Sausages
Fried tattie scones (no longer call them potato scones as I got laughed out of my local greasy spoon for that offence)
Not much of a beans at brekkie man myself but if it's mid afternoon when I get up I'll sling them in !

Hmm, have a craving for something greasy now. Chippy for dinner methinks.

Well, I have the option to go for a cooked breakfast every morning at the mess if I wanted. I don't normally for a couple of reasons. Firstly, I've only just woken up in the previous 30 minutes and I don't have an appetite for cooked food (stick with cereal and fruit normally). Secondly, this is what you usually get: -

Sausages - Size of your middle finger (length and diameter), dry and not that tasty
Bacon - Mainly fat and the meat ususally burnt
Eggs - Fried come bathed in oil. Poached are sometimes good and sometimes questionable if they're cooked at all.
Toast - First time through the toaster, it resembles dried stale bread. Put it in again and it comes out black.
Tomatoes - Usually dehydrated as no-ones has them so they've been sat under the heaters for over an hour

The rest is ok (you can't get beans wrong really). In their defense though, lunches and dinners are usually really good, just seems to be the cooked breakfasts they have problems with .

    Bacon , streaky and crisp
    Eggs fried ,soft
    Fried bread
    Sausage either tomato or skinless
    and not forgetting mushrooms ..fried

ps Stewart if you are going to do mushrooms like that, try using half milk, half water, far tastier!

3 rashers of bacon, 2 sausages (from the butchers, preferably boar), beans, at least 2 hash browns, although i prefer rosti if i can be bothered really crispy, fried white bread (nice thin slices so it doesnt get soggy in the middle) 2 eggs cooked all the way through on both sides (cant stand runny yolks) and plenty of hp all over it.

i eat them when i get the chance - usually once or twice a month.
    For me I usually do:

2/3 rashers of unsmoked bacon, fat trimmed and the bacon crispy
2 pork english bangers - average meat count, fairly cheap sausages, fried (I prefer them to most 'premium sausages')
    2 fried eggs, over easy
4 hash browns (of pure potato)
    slice of black pudding
heinz beans (none of this newfangled branston stuff =) )
toasted muffin, usually turned into a egg/bacon sandwich
    mug of english breakfast

Its a big meal..usually counts as a breakfast + lunch at least, tastes great though

I could quite happily just eat a vast quantity of black pudding as a fried breakfast. If I had to choose my second favourite constituents of a fry up then in descending order I'd say good meaty sausages, hash browns, eggs (though scrambled in preference to fried), bacon, fried bread. Brown sauce, of course, is a must.

Beans and mushrooms I'll eat if I've paid for breakfast in a cafe or canteen, but they don't make the grade when I'm frying one myself. Tomatoes- yuck. I can eat them in pizzas, bolognaise etc., but whole in whatever shape or form- no thanks.

Get one at least 2-3 times a week at Uni. Well, in theory - that's if I can be arsed to get up at 7am. It doesn't happen so much
