18 here....but haven't played in months and months, I think I am playing the PGA at the Belfry next month though
Please do not message me about Scan Free shipping, I no longer work for HEXUS.net
got a mate who was 2 last time I saw him 2 years ago.. he was going pro last I heard
I play the occasional golf with mates but have no idea of all the olf technical terms what exactly do they mean by handicap?
Your handicap is basically how many shots over (or, more rarely, under) par you'd be, playing a course under "medal" or competition rules. You subtract it from your (gross) score at the end of the round to give a net score. This is what counts for the competition. In theory it gives as level a playing field as possible. If you play well and your "net" score is below par, your handicap gradually comes down so in theory it's always an accurate representation of your ability.
I was planning on turning club pro when I was younger but decided against it. Worked in the golf trade for a few years and totally lost interest in the sport. Just going back to it now. Dunno what handicap I'll get, probably somewhere between 5 and 10. You can become a club pro if your handicap is 4 or lower, and you have the relevant qualifications.
To give an idea of how good you need to be to be a tour pro, I know a few guys that have "plus" handicaps. They have to ADD strokes at the end of the round rather than subtracting Most of them are still not good enough to make it to the tour.
Nice the belfry , have fun at the 18th you will know when you play it, trust me.
any of you lot go to any big comps, I am going through a phase of going to the British open.
My complete ineptitude at golf mainly. Never actually worked it out!
Not around too often!
true to play on tour you just need real talent, I know a few juniors at my club who have a real good shot at turning pro, but if they can make any money at it is another thing completely.
It's sad that tiger woods who is a zillionair can play against some poor bloke who makes £20,000 a year .
used to be 25, was steadily dropping it until A levels, and had to pack it in so i could get my education back on track.
When I played regularly I dropped as low as 24 (not bad for a 15yo who played once or twice a week tops)
Haven't played for over 2 years now, doubt I could beat Nick...
dont know, but im ace at tiger woods07
I'm rubbish, but my brother who is 13 plays off 18, but I can see that coming down by about 5 shots this season, as he plays twice everyday in the summer. I wish I had the time to play golf that often.
Heh, before Dad had his motorbike accident (and broke 7 ribs) he was off 12. Not sure what he'd be like now, or whether he can even play yet...
