stargate sg-1 final episode ever WTF!!

POSSIBLE SPOILERS IF YOU HAVENT SEEN LAST EPISODE READ NO MORE !!!!!!

ok so i sat down last night to watch the final ever episode of stargate sg1 been watching it for 10 series now and the new characters had made the show more interesting after 8 series fighting the goulg

so was pleased to see it was a world premiere no waiting 3 weeks and hearing the yanks go on about it on other forums

so i sit down and well anyone else that watched it must be thinking the same as me what kinda ending was that

it rivals the fabled 10 year jump from one episode to the next to end enterprise

i honestly have no idea what that was and who wrote it it was terrible

they just ended it like any other episode no defeating the ori nothing just weird

I am sorry for my rant all but as a fan for nearly ten years
i am entirely disappointed at what a sh** ending it was

Ahh, just wait for the 3 extra length TV movie style episodes that were announced and I'm sure all will be clearer.

I think they were holding out themselves for a Season 11 last minute deal tbh, the Baal in Adria thing could have gone on a bit but hey...

The idea is 2 direct to DVD films, one that ends the Ori arc and another that sets up another spin off ala Atlantis, depending on how that does then we'll maybe see more.

Yes its a shame but the fact that the ratings dropped in the states is what put Sci-Fi off, they changed how they were aired, it used to be BSG, SG1 and Atlantis all on the same night, they changed this and ratings dropped, the fact that everyone seems to want to watch these bloody "Reality TV" programs doesnt help either...

Maybe we should all write to Virgin Media and see if they'll finance a Season 11, that'd be a good thing for there new Virgin Central channel now that Sky One has gone...

It is a shame it is finsihed, Lately all the programs I like are being taken down.

The replcements? Total waste of time crap like buffy and all that other nonsense as well as the poor reality shows.

*sigh* such a shame, looks like I will be watching way less tv these days since pretty much all the shows I like are being taken down.

I thought it was a really really good ending to the series to be honest.

It was really just about three things:

    a) Giving them the Asgard technology to set them up for a big fight with the ori

    b) Tying up the Asgard storyline - in particular finally confirming that the humans on earth are "The Fifth Race" as has been hinted at since the very first Asgard episode

    c) Doing a heck of a lot of character development in one episode that ordinarily they could not do. The whole time-dilation thing gave them a chance to give the characters more depth - in particular Vala/Jacksons relationship (again which had been hinted at since the start of season 9).

I thought it was a really clever episode, and I *loved* Jacksons little rant at vala - very well done

So now we just need to wait for the two feature length TV movies:

Stargate: The Ark Of Truth to tie up the ori storyline, with big asses ori battles around earth and the ori galaxy

    and

Stargate: Continum with Baal trying to invade earth, and also kicking off a new storyline for atlantis

Both are sheduled for release in autumn this year, and even though both are technically direct to DVD and not to TV, Sci-Fi does have a history of airing its direct to DVD productions on TV also, so we just have to hope that SkyOne also picks them up to show (although I will be buying the DVDs anyway I think to complete my collection)

edit: also I'm pleased that at least one of the films still has the Goa'uld as a bad guy - they really are the best 'bad guys' ever seen in Stargate tbh, and I *really* hope that Atlantis picks them up for its next season..the ori and wraith are just boring in comparison ;/

The Goa'uld have always been there in the background and you know that there was always going to be some sort of comeback as the system lords gathered strenght, hence my comment on the Baal/Adria joining, its going to be a shame tho that there going to have to crush it all into 2 TV/DVD Movies tho instead of doing it properly over a season :/

On August 21, 2006, the Sci Fi Channel confirmed that Stargate SG-1 has been cancelled after 10 seasons.[6] However, Executive producer Robert C. Cooper told GateWorld that they are hard at work looking for a new outlet for the story to continue.

"As far as the future, I can't comment yet because nothing has been confirmed," Cooper said. "What we want to emphasize is that the franchise is not dying. SG-1 will go on in some way. We're just not ready to announce how." Cooper also emphasizes that, though emotions are running high among Stargate fans who have just learned the news, it is important to keep the show's ratings strong throughout the remainder of its run on Sci Fi. "What's most important is that fans don't take out their frustration with SciFi by not watching", he said. "In fact, what they need to do is watch both SG-1 and Atlantis LIVE and make sure the ratings stay strong. That helps prove to other outlets that might be interested in SG-1 that the show is still as strong as we think it is."[7]

Mark Stern, executive VP of original programming for the Sci Fi Channel stated that the cancellation "was not a ratings-based decision", adding that the production staff have been given enough time to tie up all the loose ends and to create a good ending for the show. Stern has also said that SciFi plans to use some SG-1 members on the still-continuing spin-off Stargate Atlantis.[8] However, the term "cancellation", as applied by Sci Fi Channel, are orders for SG-1 episodes from MGM/Sony. They have merely canceled their order for new episodes. MGM, the rights holder, has expressed a desire to continue SG-1 through another outlet, suggesting that another network may pick up the series. This means that the series is not actually canceled, but simply on hold. MGM announced that they wish to continue the SG-1 series, either as a movie, mini-series, or an eleventh season on some other network, suggesting that G4 and Showtime have presented interest in such an option. However, the Sci Fi Channel is attempting to block the action, citing their contract with MGM.[9]. On Tuesday, September 26, 2006, GateWorld released news that IGN had reported that there will not be an eleventh season, but rather that there will be a series of SG-1 TV movies, the report cites an unnamed cast member.[10]

On December 14, 2006, production sources informed GateWorld that a new spin-off series is in the idea stage, and is being actively worked on by the same creative minds behind Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis. There have not been any plot lines released as of this time. Going off of previous releases of SG-1 and Atlantis, release date should not be expected until at least 2008.

On December 20, 2006, verified reports from GateWorld confirmed the production of two movies, with filming expected to begin in late April of 2007. The regular cast of Stargate will be part of the cast. Executive producer Robert C. Cooper will both write and direct the first movie. The first movie "has to do with wrapping up the Ori storyline, which is the storyline that has taken prominence for the last two years of the show," said cast member Michael Shanks. The second movie starts shooting June 1. Executive producer Brad Wright will write the second film, with Martin Wood directing. That story is a time travel story taking SG-1 to the past. "It has something to do with our main villain Ba'al (Cliff Simon) doing something in the past," Shanks said. "He basically finds a way to lift the Stargate from Earth so the Stargate Program never happens, and I imagine the characters will have to go through some process to reset the clock and fix everything."

On December 22, 2006, GateWorld reported that with MGM beginning production of the first direct-to-DVD movie, MGM and the show's Vancouver-based producers are no longer pursuing an eleventh season. Both of the expected direct-to-DVD films are most likely going to be released late 2007, and the possibility of future films remains high.

The two MGM films will be called Stargate: The Ark of Truth and Stargate: Continuum, respectively.

I never took to the new setup for sg1, they should have called it 'Stargate: we got that guy from farscape and some of the cast from sg1 then just made up a completely new enemy to milk the franchise for a bit longer'

I agree, the Ori thing is a little strange for me and I think a visually stronger looking woman would fill the orici roll better, I just don't think shes right for the part imo, saying this I still enjoyed the shows and I'm pretty gutted about it going. The last episode was a strange one, but having said that, weren't they shot before it was announced that it had been canceled?

As for Atlantis, it's just different to SG-1, the episode before last nights one was very good I thought, very well shot imo, I sky+ed last nights episode so I'm going to watch it now.

I was also shocked about beckett being killed off, but theres talk of him being a special guest now and again, so he's not gone for good i don't think.
