You've gotta feel sorry for the guy, but what were the BA crew supposed to do: jettson the poor recently deceased lady over The English Channel?

I'd expect a full refund tbh...The policy seems a sound one, as you could hardly expect the staff to stuff the lady in a spare storage space, or leave her in her seat. Seems as though First must have been fairly empty, as the family members were allowed to join her in the FC cabin.
Even so, you don't pay three grand to spend the flight next to a dead body.

i hope they charged the family for the upgrade. the dead should have to pay extra for flying in comfort too!

Agreed with ibm. Seems there was little they could have done, but they should have refunded the poor sod.
They should have atleast have had the courtsey to place the corpse near the relatives and maybe one of living relatives next to a paying customer ?
"But why the black condom?"
"Well, you've got to have some respect for the dead."
Sorry, end to a very bad joke....
BA first class cabin usually only holds 12, arranged two, two, four, four, so you're going to end up somewhere near the body regardless of where you are.

Yea, according to the original article, the daughter was next to her mother, meaning that the guy wasn't sitted right next to the departed.. but possibly on the same row.
I do think that the man, and other passengers in the vicinity for that matter, should have received a full refund if only as a courtesy.
