    Skype

Just wanted to gauge the forum's attitude to Skype and VOIP in general.

How many of you actually use it each day to make calls?

How many of you would consider using it?

Reason for asking? Well I've now got unlimited Skype calls to and from other Skype users

Unlimited skype calls to and from other skype users?

Isn't this the whole idea of skype? It being free to call any skype user voIP? Or do you mean you have unlimited calls to telephone numbers via skype?

But if you're a big talker then skype (voIP) is the way forward.
Used to spend ridiculous amounts of money calling my gf, then used skype instead, saved a killing. But now we got a great mobile tariff we no longer use skype.

Still it's all free, and a program to have installed so long as you know a few people using skype.

I use it when I'm away at uni, also have their free calls to landlines package, so I'm all sorted. Way I looked at it - £5 a week topping up the landline phone, or £2 a month on skype. Also got a skypein number too, though people don't normally ring me (or if they do, it's on my mobile).

My mobile has the skype plugin installed, but it's too slow to work really (that's on an o2 xda mini s, so dread to think of what it's like on a 'normal' phone).

I use it. $29.95 for unlimited calls to US numbers for a year is incredible value. Phonecalls are one thing which really aren't cheap in this country of very cheap stuff.

I use Skype for all of my regular calls, I don't have a landline as I don't use my phone enough for that. It's handy to keep track of payments etc.

I bought one of these from Scan - means I can use my regular handsfree phone for Skype/voip and also normal BT calls - works well.

    Eye popping good!
There was a funny quote here

I use it for chat at work because its the only IM that we can use through the firewall, used to use it at home a lot to chat to (now ex-) bf as it's cheap!
We also used it within uni network for C&C generals games!

I was given the BT equivilent with my homehub but have been underwhelmed by the quality of the calls and the handset.

VOIP is fine (if not for me), but i'm not sure i trust a proprietary system like Skype
