I would love more corporate stuff. The interview with Intel about vPro was good but more would be excellent. Plus reviews of corporate kit like PCs and servers (serious stuff not the two bit companies), looking at corporate management tools, its own forum perhaps, to promote it. Hexus.itmonkeys!?

As much as I like Hexus it does seem more enthusiast based whereas I think there is a an important part of the community who would use this site for corporate info too especially since many of us also work in the industry.

There is a balance to be struck though not too dry please.

It was brought up at the last meet that it might be nice for us to have a "Colour" like the gamers had.

I believe it was a slightly drunken rant that I had in Glasgow, but there has been some good ideas come out of it!

    beer for veteran members!

actually, some kind of more detailed user tagging system would be neat - online game usernames, xbox gamertags, wii friend codes, and a way of viewing it all at once

you could even build a clan system from it - automatically linking people who play the same games, so they're more likely to play together

One solution I though of would be to allow ordinary Hexus users (with enough posts), to edit or remove posts from new accounts. Say any account less than 3 days old, or with fewer than 10 posts, can be edited by anyone who has been a Hexus member for more than a year or 1000 posts.
Alternatively, Hexus could require moderator approval for a new users' first post to stop any spamming. After the first post has been approved then the new member can post as normal.

I don't think the spammers are a real problem here. They are dealt with really quickly.

i like the idea of PDA/Smartphone support, but with the costs of data on mobiles i don't think i would use it much to be honest.

I would use a custom home page with saved searches etc. especially if it was possible to exclude particular forums from "New Posts"

Well, I know this is a tech/electronics forum, and i wouldn't want to detract from that in any way as it is exactly why I started using (and abusing) Hexus, but I would love to see a film/books section.

I am an avid fantasy reader (no, not the TSR multi author , lets sell as many books as we can from writers straight out of nursery school crap), and I am always on the lookout for discussions on several series, and to find decent authors. There is so much drivel out there these days that its incredibly difficult to sift through and find the rare gem or 2 that tends to be buried some place in the back of Ottakars or Waterstones. Anyways, the point is ( yes, i'm getting there) that we have sections for food, health and fitness, and automotive, so perhaps the logical progression is to add one for various other hobbies and pasttimes (no trainspotters please).

Also, and i dunno what the chance of sponsorship would be, but why dont Hexus approach a few server providers and get some HEXUS gaming servers up and running. That would promote the sitte aswell and get the interest huge.

Even some of the comopnaies that use the site could contribute aswell (as you do them a favour).

Say a CS:S/BF2/COD2 server. All public servers so Hexus members can get together online aswell!!!

You can select admins for these servers through application and all would be sweet.

Also, the companies that use these forums would gain, as to use these servers , machines would need to be upgraded.

I'd like the auto subscription to be turned off when a post is made in a thread I've made a post in. Its immensly annoying to recieve email notifications by default when a new post has been made in a thread. I can't seem to find any option to turn it off here but I can on other forums I go on!!!! If I want an update from a thread I'd like to manually subscribe to it myself

I'm really liking directhex's suggestion reguarding tags in the profile for gaming and the clan idea that could accompany it.

There was a neat feature I saw on another of the forums I frequent, if someone posts a picture that is too big (knackering the layout), the forum auto-resizes it, and if it's quoted, automatically shrinks the image to a thumbnail size..
