    Virgin's new Broadband Supoort line - 25p a minute.

Does anyone else think that this is ridiculous?

In the past, I have waited for over an hour to be told that the person that I was speaking to cant help me and they would get someone to ring me back, which never happened, meaning another hours wait and when I finally get through to India, I get someone that is impossible to understand, and they cant understand me.

There has been the odd occasion, that I have got straight through and spoken to someone, but that is rare.

The Virgin Broadband service (for me at least) has been pretty poor recently, with many dropouts and painfully slow browsing.

I wonder if the people in the Indian call centre are paid close to the £15 per hour that we have to pay to speak to them?

Same here. Loads of dropouts and the speed really takes the pee. It is hitting 500 instead of 250 now though (still a far cry from the 3700+ it was before)

There's a huge thread on this over on Cable Forums, but to be honest yet again we're going to be ripped off by NTL/Virgin. 25p/min is rip to listen to a Bombay CSA who has trouble with Engrish ask you to reboot for the umpteenth time cos that's what her script tells her to do.

Unfortunately I'm being upgraded to 20meg at the end of this month so this means the end of fast, stable & reliable cable internet here in Newbury and hello to bandwidth throttling, slow and unstable internet.

Luckily my service has been ok, apart from my ping has increased withing online gaming.

The new pricing of calls however, is a backward step and I for one can forsee more Bband problems occurring.......

Maybe the overseas (I say this with upmost sarcasm) "customer service" is being knocked on the head and we'll get british CS in the near future?

......thinking about it, I remember reading that the contracts (trial period) were due to end and won't be renewed, for the oversea "CS" (it could have been another company I'm thinking of tho).

That sounds harsh, I remember waiting 45 minutes on hold back when I used NTL for BB, and they never sorted things out particularly either. It's a shame really, cable could be much better than ADSL2+ but they like oversubscribing too much : /

Am I the only person in the UK who has Virgin Broadband that just works? No drops, reasonable speeds, etc.

I never had to ring them in 4 years on Blueyonder and I've not had to ring them since Branson took over the show.

Hit them where it hurts if they are not providing an acceptable service - jump ship to a rival.

Although our cable has been pretty good there have been a number of occassions where there was a fault with the network that was causing problems throughout my postcode area. I had to spend probably 2 hours in total over the course of 6 phone calls trying to get someone to actually check the network.

Turns out there was a fault with the network and the only reason they found it was because so many people were complaining. I'm not paying 25p/min to talk to someone in India who hasn't even got a basic knowledge of PCs. To be fair their UK staff are usually pretty good but it's a lottery whether you get put through to India or the UK.

Think I'll be moving to ADSL and then cancel my account with VM. They were good but the service has been going slowly downhill over the past few months. If you're gonna charge 25p/min, it had better be nothing but UK english speaking operators or you're going to lose LOT of customers.

I've never had a problem in 6 years with my cable broadband from Blueyonder and probably won't for the next 6 years (I hope!).

I think that Virgin emailing/writing to everyone telling them of the new charge in the way they have will put loads of people off keeping/having them!

It hasnt been 50p per minute here. (ex C&W, now ex NTL).

It used to be free, then they changed it to an 0845 number, then an 0870 number, then back to a free number (150) and now the 0906 number.
