    Can you spell over-hyped?

I can understand it when it's adolescents with the latest computer game (or even adults who refuse to grow up), but these guys are nuts.

You notice he didn't say 'I'm going to run home and ring friends'? I wonder why?

It's just a phone and not a particularly amazing one.

"I'm going to run home and ring people just to say 'guess what, I've got an iPhone, bye!'" Anyone does that to me and I'm blocking the number

Yarp. But why does he have to run home? Does he need the concept of a mobile phone explained to him yet again?

All those who buy the iPhone must activate it via iTunes, so no-one was able to call from their new handset as they left the Apple store.

Anyhow, this is no different from those sad arses who queue up for days to buy the latest Playstation, or Harry Potter book...

It's not so much the hype, it's the rabid fans, and their average age which gets me. You release a new Harry Potter, and 8 out of ten fans are going to be under 16, with a new playstation the age group is going to be higher, but still, it's a whole new console with a whole new batch of never seen before games.

Apple fans take geek and elevate it to a whole new realm of existance.

Some people really buy into the whole apple brand (fanboys), just like anything really, lots of idiots "fans" queued for ages for the ps3, wii, this is no different. Well, except the price. That filters out the younger buyers.

I guess lots of them are going to ebay the phones?

Na, most electronic stuff has a small amount of charge in the batteries when you buy it.

A bet, in a few days time, you'll hear of dodgy batteries, unreasonably fragile screens, the casing of the phone scratches easily etc. or that it stopped a bullet, saving the life of the US Marine who for reasons beyond me and his Commanding Officers was wearing it in the front of his body armour...

Excuse me for being cynical... But this sort of thing has all happened with Apple products, namely the iPod
