Being excited as the forums are back is really no excuse, people should just relax and post at a normal rate...

I can appreciate that you are calling me a hypocrite(sp?) due to my post count, but they have been, as mentioned, largely constricted to the one thread, unlike certain other members who have been posting willy nilly in multiple threads to get their post count back. New forums ALWAYS = spam until people calm down, its a fact of life and happens EVERYWHERE.

Indeed the default style is CRAP but at least its better than NO forums.

Hey luke, lighten up. Everyone gets 'ribbed' for spamming - I'm not having a serious go at anyone. It just seems ironic that the posts creating the most spam are those complaining about or related to spammage. It does seem that the Word Game thread is solely for those trying to up their post-count rather than for the purpose of playing the game though, and I and I'm sure others would like someone to nullify post-count increases in that thread. However I'm not going to get annoyed or upset about anything - it's a forum for lord's sake, we're all meant to get along. At the end of the day, post counts mean little and people get to know those making quality posts and respect them for that rather than just their PC.

i know how many posts agent has, my point was that there wasn't exactly a huge gap between me and him.

and no imo its not better than no forums at the moment, because while the forums were down i was waiting with well i spose anticipation for them to get back, and now i'm annoyed, i know which i'd rather be.

Its nice to see the forums back and talk to you guys again, but the sheer volume of useless spam around here over powers all that for me and spoils it.

And donny john i don't wanna single you out but jesus, you've got 80 posts mate, and with no reason. at least caged has a reason for his posts.

I agree, I came on here this afternoon and was surprised as I think everyone was that everything had changed, most people are just keen to get the forums up and running so the post counts will be large for a while, not all of it is great and I for one was shocked to see the size of GD by 4:30pm!
I for one think that the avatar level should still be at 500, or maybe avatars should be at 100 and the custom writing is no longer personally changable but reflects the post count i.e. changes every 100 posts to a set thing. Many people seem to be very keen to get an avatar so maybe that would be a more agreeable system.

Knox, if you've suddenly seen the light and decided to stop spamming, don't start getting annoyed at others because they've got a higher postcount than you. It happens. Give the forums a couple of days to return to normal. Who cares if Donny John or others have a much larger postcount than you? Why is everyone so concerned? Post counts are a poor reflection on how much time and effort people put into posting. At theotherplace, I racked up over a thousand threads, 90% of them were in Speaker's Corner and were on average two hundred plus words long. Others would post in the General Discussion forums and get most of their posts with single sentence replies. In fact, apart from gaining avatars for 100+ or 500+ posts or whatever, I think we should do away with post counts being displayed next to a person's name in a thread. Sure, leave them in their profile if you want, but removing them from immediate view would prevent a lot of the 'willy-waving' and spam that goes on. People could then see the committed members as they would be the ones with avatars. Just a thought maybe.
