Cancun holiday

Im off on holiday this coming monday... to Cancun

Has anyone been? Where did you stay etc

I know you have to pay to get out the country and it goes without saying that you shouldn't drink the water

Any recommendations on what to see/do?

I know loads of peoplethat have been (used to be a travel agent), they mostly stayed at one of the Riu hotels. Be very careful of the Blue Bay Getaway (or Coraco) as one of them is a haven for erm, people with unusual and shall we say group participation tastes.

TBH i have never heard anyone complain about Cancun, my brothers visit there pretty regularly and love the place (they live stateside), the beaches are spectacular if you go a little way outside of the normal haunts. Just the usual warnings, stay in groups after dark, don't get conned into any stupid situations and try at least a little spanish while you are there. The vast majority of the native cancunians are used more to American tourists, and will appreciate those who make the effort, especially those coming from further away.
