Why Flash Adverts Should be banned

This is crap - utter crap and why sites using flash adverts are getting more and more ignored by me. www.itv-f1.com has always been a sucker for crap adverts, now its made the site unusable, I can't even use the "contact us" forum as the drop down advert thats already dropped down is blocking it.

can't get the damn image to work

    its here

That's not due to being flash - it's an overlay something different

That link just takes me to a blank page. Is that the point?

I use two browsers - one has Flash support for those odd occasions when I need it. The other (Firefox) hasn't got Flash. So all I get is a blank box with a message about installing plugins, which I ignore, or a line at the top of the page saying additional plugins are required, which I close.

Sky's website usually has these annoying overlay popup adverts as well.

Why is it though some of them have the X box to close on the top, some have it on the side, and some have it hidden somewhere vague?

The cynic in me suggests that it's so you have to look all over the place for it, by which time, you've absorbed the ad just by trying to get rid of the pesky thing.

I realise that's not the point of the post but as you're both a Linux and FF user I'm surprised you don't have the above extension.

I absorb them with hatred. If I remember a company pissing me off with those adverts then I will be far less inclined to use that company. When will their marketing people realise this?

as I recall scan have suffered from this a few times with their 3 XS adverts, although on no-where as an intrusive scale.
David, yes I realise its not actually the flash, but this type of advert goes hand in hand with flash.

Same as me - my SeaMonkey browser has no Flash, but IceWeasel does. Makes for much nicer browsing.
