It seems it gets a bit confused when you take the same bit of text and run it through Babelfish over and again translating English to Dutch, Dutch to French, French to Italian and then finally back to English..

You mean verse 6 (from gentleman's magazine 1745). I used to do that when I was a student. Never had any problems just the odd look from any English aboot. What is bananas is that there is no definitive version. It's been chopped and changed so much that it's really only the first three verses that have stood the test of time. Iirc it's not even sanctioned. However, there is one positive thing I can say about it and that is it doesn't bloody drone on and on and on like some of the other crap that you hear. It's sounds a bit dull though and I'd prefer Land of Hope and Glory for England and God Save the Queen for the UK.
