just wondering if anyones read any good books recently?
what would one suggest?
i like reading anything fictional, although nothing too gory or supernatural![]()

Can't remember what right now though. I'll have a look through my 'read pile' when i get home.
Really into crime fiction though and have a few favourite authors. Lee Childs, Christopher Brookmire (Scottish), Harlen Coben, Ian Rankin, Michael Conolly and a few others
Getting into fantasy fiction more now to, my uncle keeps giving me these huge trillogies he's read and liked. All because to saw me reading a Terry Pretchett book at work (all of his are highly recomended too).
One of the best books I read recently (although non-fiction) was 'Kitchen Confidential' by the American chef Anthony Bourdain. It's an autobiographical account of his experience working in the restaurant trade and is certainly an eye opener - I wont be ordering mussels again that's for sure. He makes Gordon Ramsey look like Delia Smith.
For some good fiction try anything by:
Iain (M) Banks (sci-fi with an M or non-genre without).
Ian Rankin (gritty crime novels, usually with the infamous Detective Inspector Rebus).
Neal Stephenson (some cyberpunk, some historical fiction of immense magnitude).

I hardly ever read fiction but I've got some Stanislaw Lem books on order; very highly regarded and thoughtful science fiction short stories. And Ray Bradbury too.
Also Lukayenko's Night Watch / Day Watch / Twilight Watch are supernatural, in that they are also about the forces of Light and Dark but interacting in a very petty, mundane and bureacratic way. Good fillums as well![]()

I can't believe it took me so long to start reading his stuff, it's crushingly real.
He's the guy who wrote Fight Club, but I'd reccomend starting with 'Survivor', or maybe 'Choke'.
Or... You can read a short horror story here: http://www.seizureandy.com/stuff/guts.html
But let me warn you....
Thats pretty gross![]()

Terry Pratchett books are always worth a read or two.
I've just finished reading Storm Front, the first book in the Dresden Files, which I quite enjoyed - I now need to order the rest.
The Star Wars: New Jedi Order series of books was quite good too (around 20 odd books in total - with a number of major characters dying throughout the series).

OK, I'm liking the following:
The Watch Trilogy - Lukayenko
Kitchen Confidential - Anthony Bourdain
Anyone got any other suggestions
I'm looking for specific title recommendations, due to the fact that some authors can produce utter trash and utter genius in the space of 3 books and don't really trust myself to pick the best one
Thanks for your suggestions chaps!
Steve
