Walking damages the planet more than driving

    The Times
"Walking does more than driving to cause global warming, a leading environmentalist has calculated."

Should make some of the overweight mums in my village feel a lot better.
They use their 4x4s to drive their children 500 yards to the school.

Tell them they have to turn vegan though, they can't drive to the shops and eat meat, which is how the maths is worked.

God i hate stupid stuff like this, it sends all the wrong mixed messages. People still eat what they eat, it doesn't change because they walk to the shops or go in a car.

Its just sensationlist bull**** to sell papers

This kind of bad science is becoming more and more prevalent. It seems some 'scientists' are conducting 'research' and publishing papers purely on the off chance that it may be picked up by the news agencies. God who funds this rubbish? Oh we do, great

Who funds this rubbish.......you do !
Most of these stupid ideas come from govenment funded places which means were paying.
Could you imagine a private investor accepting this rubbish, and the government can say they've paid for x number of studies in to environment change.

I wrote a response in the comments section to that article but also mentioned that Badscience.net had picked up on this one very quickly. It hasn't been published yet. It is ofcourse absolute rubbish and the maths and reasoning are skewed. Unfortunately people read this crap and then regurgitate it to others reinforcing the poor science. It makes me mad. Heads should roll at newspapers when they print crap like this but they never do because they are only interested in selling copy and therefore sensationalise everything. It's a classic case of don't believe everything you read. Atleast it is getting attacked in the comments section. I can't believe that The Times (not the Sun or Daily Sport) has "printed" this.

    I love this response.

This is just a desktop calculation because on both occasions I would still consume same amount of food and equally harm the enviroment. Fat people are greedy
