Love him or hate him, he did a lot for music, and a lot for Manchester.

RIP.
As clunk said, love him or hate him..... still a loss to music.
Beer is life, life is good!
Just heard it on the news. Didn't even know he was ill!
Bad news mate.
Awww that's a shamethe man who put Manchester ( Music anyway ) on the map
I loved the film 24 Hour Party People.
No way
I don't know all that much about him really (there are people who hated him??). I just know he was the bloke behind a bunch of manchester bands and all that was what kick started the manchester scene (which actually produced some great bands I think - unlike nowdays). And he started the Hacienda club (which I went to woohoo). And then I saw him on telly a lot, on talky show type things. He always seemed like a pretty righteous fella. Sad to see someone die young and like that
rip
ITs really sad that he has died.
The worse part is that after all he did for the music scene in manchester and all the bands he got going part of the reason for the death is he couldnt afford the medication that would have helped him.
Yeah just heard on 6Music. Such a shame. I heard he was ill a while ago.
I believe he was also a big advocate of good design and architecture.
