    GFX Cards + Multi region?

    Quick Q,
Nipping over the the states again September - If I buy a US GFX card (Called GPUs now aren't they? )
    will it work over here?

Is there any point in me doing so, IE, will I save money?

    Cheers,

    Cheers,

yes it would work fine, yes you would save money cause the exchange rate is still tasty and we generally pay more over here ANYWAY. and no, there is a GPU on the graphics card but theres also other stuff like memory..with any luck

    Thanks, but you've scared me.

You replied to a post, without a funny picture.

    You need to rectify this.

Yes it will work over here.

You need to work out if it's worth it, just in case you have to use the warantty. But I believe newegg can check if your card is working for a small fee before shipping to you.

Finally check if you are liable to VAT.

    Happy Shopping.

You would be liable for VAT, and the pound is finally starting to weaken so it might not be quite the bargain it was.

Main issue is damage in transit and warranty worries.

did this a year ago with my 7900 GT, paid $325 for a card that cost £250+ here.

bury it deep in your suitcase and try not to look too shifty as you walk through customs, you should be ok

Re: GFX Cards + Multi region?

If you can, get the shop to print an invoice for half the cost of the card. That way you get hit for less duty. Customs don't know what anything is worth and they'll believe an invoice especially if you declare it.

Other than that throw away all the packaging and wrap it in bubble wrap, bury it deep and no-one will know.

I carried my Wii through in my hand luggage (Unboxed for duty reasons). Just like clothes, remove the labels, and you took 'em with you!
