    ERASMUS - Anyone done it?

I've been reading up on the ERASMUS programme, which from my reading, allows students to go to a partner university of the one the are at, to study for an amount of time between 3 and 12 months.

Now, I'm quite enthusiastic about trying to do this, but I'd like to know if anyone else has done it before, and how they found it?

    Cheers,
    David

I did it. Was about 8 years ago now though. Went to Leiden in the Netherlands for 6 months.

Before you do it look into living costs and make sure that it won't be a problem. When I did it I got some money from erasmus to cover the difference in living costs between UK and the Netherlands, but I don't know if they still do that.

Was a great experience and would definitely recommend it.

Yeah, I was reading up on it today, it seems there is still some support avaliable for people who want to do it.

I'm seriously considering it, even with the prospect of having to learn another language (my school @ RGU isn't linked with any French Universities, or else I would have less language-(re)learning to do!) - it sounds like a tremendous experience.

Fortunately I didn't have to learn any dutch - not an acoustically pleasing language. I was doing research, and most labs that publish scientific research will work in english as they will often have other nationalities there. So depending on what you are studying language may not be a problem.
