    Allerigc Reaction

Jumped into my nice clean bed last night and I started itching. So normal thing, scratch scratch. Then somewhere else ... had a look I had came up in single blotches. I immediately thought, uh oh, cats have brought fleas in. Came up in various places last night so didn't sleep.

So next morning dug out the old flea spray and sprayed room and bed. To the dismay of my cats gave them their flea treatment as well today. Jumped back in bed again, nope blotches came back. I have been using Boots bite and sting thing I dug out our meds cupboard.

Then it occurred to me, bought Bold gel tablets recently and have started to use them. So just now I have changed my bedding and dug out some other bedclothes. Getting better, but I guess some of the residual stuff will take a while to wear off.

Moral of the story, dont buy Bold!

    Re: Allerigc Reaction

Well, I daresay it's probably just Bold's bad luck that you're allergic to one of their ingredients. Maybe you're just sensitive to the enzymes in biological washing powder/liquid?

I've never had a problem with washing power, but I do get sensitive to antiperspirant deodorant- Right Guard spray causes one of the glands under my arm to swell up, while Lidl own brand rollon causes a burning sensation. In both cases my skin became sensitive to them over the course of about three months. I wouldn't say that other people should avoid them though, I've just stopped buying them myself.

    Re: Allerigc Reaction

I'm highly sensitive to washing powders, same thing happens. Just so happens we used Bold once but I was unaware, the missus got given a box that a friend had got on offer and she wasn't clued in to my allergy at the time. I had a quite nasty skin reaction over the next week or so and of course not realising we were using different washing powder I couldn't quite fathom what was going on.

Turns out all the skin problems I had growing up were down to reactions to various enzyme based washing powders.

We only use Fairy non-bio and I have no troubles at all. It can be a pain when we go on holiday or stay at someone else's house because if it's for too long I know there's a risk of a flare-up so we end up taking out own bedsheets.

I also get bad reactions with spray antiperspirants, they make me itch like hell. I use stick/roll-on antiperspirant though and that's fine.

My youngest suffers from eczema around her wrists and ankles, right where cuffs and socks rub... Switched to Fairy non-bio and although it didn't clear up instantly it certainly helped ease the eczema somewhat.

Eczema is a curse I wouldn't wish on anyone. Having suffered it as a child it pains me to see little-uns with it, it's so frustrating for both parent and child.

try it on top of Psoriasis...

but anyways, we all have our own things to deal with.

As far as Eczema allergies go, theres a multitude of them - pet hair, feathers and bio washing powder being the worst by far for myself (Ariel is the devils own, i swear). I wish i had some amazing advice to offer your little one Nick, but for every person its really trial and error and it can take years at times to isolate one particular thing. (turns out i was allergic to E45 cream and I had been using it for years on doctors orders). I can only hope its Infantile eczema and she will grow out of it.
Everyones an expert when it comes to skin conditions, everyone has a miracle cure, from fish in turkey eating your skin to peeing on yourself to rubbing cabbage over yourself, its funny

Stringent, looks like you may have caught your allergy immediately, good going

    Re: Allerigc Reaction

Haven't heard it from Bold before but my mum's a Health Visitor and gets a lot of issues with people who's babies are allergic to Daz.

I don't know if it's in washing liquid or not but a lot of cleaning/vanity things contain Sodium Laurel Sulphate which a lot of people are allergic to without realising. I used to get mouth ulcers a lot, cut out toothpaste with SLS in it and they went away, so check the ingredients for that chemical as well as the Bio stuff a lot of people are suggesting.

    Re: Allerigc Reaction

i'm allergic to most soaps, its very very common, apart from that soap is very drying and thats the last thing a sufferer from Eczema or Psoriasis wants.

theres other cleaners out there, but generally a good scrubbing is better for you

SLS is not a nice chemical, just try Googling it. I know a lot of people seem to be a tad OTT about it but I've proven to myself that it's not good.

My brother has to be really picky with the washing powder he uses. Bold and Daz are both no-go's. I think he always uses Persil.

My wife is allergic to BIO, and has to use NON-BIO. Same thing happens to her when clothes etc has been washed with BIO. FYI you're not supposed to wash babies clothes in BIO, only NON-BIO.

(have I used enough CAPS? )
