Anyone else had problems with Citi-Link for delivery(and lies)?

Abit worried as today i had two recorded packages expected to arrive. One was Royal Mail the other Citi Link.

Royal Mail delivered in the morning. All perfectly fine and on time.

Citi-Link failed to deliver. They also failed to leave a card. They logged this in tracking as No one at address, so left card. This is not true. There were people at the address aware of both packages about to arrive. Even worse no note was left. Also the address is on a main road. It is impossible to miss it.

Right now i am pretty angry as this is going to be a huge hassle i presume. I will not pay a penny however and i will stand my ground. Tommorow i have a Scan shipment coming in which also happens to use Citi Link. I really hope that ends up ok. But i am thinking i wont be using this company again as they arent doing the job they are suppossed to.

    Its commonplace with city link.
How good they are varies from area to area.

City Link are hit and miss on how good they are depending on area. Some people will have no problems, others loads.

You say you won't pay a penny - well hows that going to work as surly you must have paid to get the items delivered. More accuratly "you will not get a refund" no matter how much you stand your ground.

What town do you live in and lets see if its one of the known "bad ones".

I don't use city link myself any more for this very reason, but to say "I won't use them any more" is a hard statement to make as a lot of companies use them as a sole courier.

For example - you won't use them again, then you cannot use scan, overclockers, Ebuyer (just off the top of my head) so you've just cut off 3 retailers.

I don't use them, but working around it is a large hassle.

what i mean is that i wont pay anything extra over what i already have done. For me i'd love to argue how they are affecting my productivity by not delivering the package but i doubt anyone cares about consumers that much.

I would be happy to not use these companies if City-Link are the sole courier. Tomorrow is their second chance with Scan so lets see what happens.

I am in Croydon and i will be contacting them in the morning to try and sort things out.

Very annoying when city-link lie saying the've attempted delivery and carded you. They usually do deliver the "second" time, but sometimes it's just easier collecting from the depot.
I do agree that it would be better if more retailers would give you the option of using carriers other than city-link

I would be very happy to pay for a good service. It would be great if it just worked. Citi Link clearly dont work which defeats the point of their existence.

Quite frankly i dont want to know people or organisations that do shoddy work in the area they are suppossed to specialise in.

What would make me happy is to have the option of collecting at the relevant depot instead of them even atempting to deliver it. Would save everyone time

City Link end up giving retailers a bad name when deliveries don't arrive. Luckily they've been generally quite good in my area though.

Been there, had that done to me, not bothered with the T-shirt. Replace City with a rhyming word - that's how they're known round here & in many places.

Too many good etailers use them for me to avoid them, so I just use the opportunity to practice anger management.

Also I'm constantly refining my City Link strategy. Always ask the etailer to pass on full delivery directions along with phone number. Some will, some won't. Call your local CL depot on the morning of the delivery & pass on the same request to them. They can & will contact the driver. IME this cuts down the chance of a failed delivery by a factor of at least three.

Also always complain to your etailer. If possible argue they sort out the delivery problem. The more hassle & money it costs them, the more likely they'll either switch to a better courier or at least put up with having to fix up these problems themselves.

not all can contact the drivers.

The bottom line is its hit and miss. You can either gamble with them - or make the effort not to use them. 3 places I am regular user of, scan included will make the effort to allow you to arrange your own collection, in which case you can chose the delivery option that works for you.

Were these goods ordered with a company? Or a package that you needed transported separately?

If you have ordered from a company and City Link have failed to deliver, then contact the company and have them give City Link the grief. Demand that the package be redelivered today, or else expect to be recompensed for the delay for at least the cost of the delivery.

Companies have more clout that individuals, my company uses City Link and we have a rather low failure rate with them, although i have heard some horror stories in the past.

    Hope you get it sorted

Definitely a case of "depends where you live". I've never had a problem with them (so far). Always get a card when I'm not there, if it's small enough they even stick the package through the letter box. But a guy I work with has had endless problems with them.

Just the luck of the draw I guess?
