    Geek Dreams?

Ok, a bit random, but last night I dreamt I got an iPhone. I've not been thinking about them at all. I'm not even bothered about them really. but I guess all the hype must've still been on my brain and somehow made manifest in my dream. Damn excessive press coverage!

Have any of you had any geeky dreams?

    Re: Geek Dreams?

I once dreamt I was driving this huge high tech train into a scary dark tunnel but I was out of control & couldn't stop. Ok, I made that one up.

I think I might have dreamt in wire frame before? Is that geeky?

BTW Have you considered your dream might have been the result of Apple getting their hands on a Dreamgate?

I have them all the time - whether it's finishing coding what I started at work, or finishing building what I started at home, it's apparent that my brain won't rest unless it's finished the job - if that means running through the rest of it whilst I'm asleep or otherwise.

    Worse bit?
I wake up thinking it's done!

    Re: Geek Dreams?

I dream about work. Nowadays what I do is generally higher level, but when I get my hands dirty I sometimes dream my way around the code I'm writing/modifying.

When I was a trainee developer I used to dream that I was the cursor stepping through code. Sometimes I would be in a DO LOOP incrementing myself by one each loop and see that I was already higher than the end point so "UNTIL Bruce = n" was never going to be true. It's probably because of my subconscious fear of premature ejaculation or something.

    Re: Geek Dreams?

    Sort of –

In the past some of my dreams were definitely influenced by games I’d been playing at the time:

Deus Ex (the original) was particularly invoking: I remember dreams around that time were often in the sets/levels of Tokyo and NY
Star Wars KOTOR had a similar effect…

Hasn’t really happened recently… now, where’s my Leisure Suit Larry collection?

    Re: Geek Dreams?

Nope. 20 years of using computers and I can't say I've had a single dream about them. Most of my dreams are about random subjects, I've had dreams influenced by films before, but not computers.

    Re: Geek Dreams?

I've never dreamt geeky dreams, but mine are apparently some of the most bizarre my mates have come across when we have a laugh about them.

It scares me to think whats going on in my head 1/2 the time. My English teacher used to say I had an excellent, logical imagination and should go into writing.

    Re: Geek Dreams?

I've had a couple of weird ones that involve technology, but nothing i would class as a geeky dream as such, and never ever ever had a geeky wet dream, unless Angelina Jolie in hackers counts...

and My English Teacher used to call me a twisted little bugger that should be locked up where i couldn't do any harm. I think she fancied me

    Re: Geek Dreams?

My English teacher was a Man City fan so that shows how good his judgement is

Why is it when you have a dream you can remember it for a few hours and then by dinner time you've forgotten all the details, but can just remember the basic outline?

Because the dream Lizards slowly eat the memories.

Do you ever get it the other way around? When you wake up, you have no memory of it, then after a few hours you get a half remembered bit of it, then a bit more, then it fades again.

Dreams, huh? I've had enough of them now, I'm going to try to not have anymore...

    Re: Geek Dreams?

Yeah Stewart I've had that happen, but I've had it happen hours or even days down the line.

Dreams are cool - especally the ones where I have special powers and can do funky stuff like fly, or even liquidise and move like a fluid through/under things

See... I told you I was 10 sandwiches short of a picnic. Anyone want to analyse my dreams and confirm I'm nutter than squirrel dung
