    Heroes

So who else watches this series?

It's on TV at the moment in the UK but I missed the first couple so tried watching it online... and within a week I'm onto the last episode now lol. Probably would've been better watching it in HD every week but it's an addictive show.

The only other American 'action' series I like this much are 24 and at a push Smallville. 24 I watched the first season online but then sort of got bored of the second series, this was all after watching a few of the sixth season and thinking it's best if I go right to the start.

Smallville I watched cause it's Superman, some of the plot lines are good, some rubbish... and he's not flying nearly enough which is what everyone is waiting for so probably going to give up on that series too.

    Re: Heroes

It's my second attempt to watch Heroes and it's okay.. a fair few of my friends rave about it but I'm only quite enjoying it so far.. The show I'm watching regularly which has got me hooked at the moment is Dexter (the serial killer police forensics man) which is a more interesting series as far as I'm concerned.

I may be carrying over my childhood bias though, when I was kid I inherently hated any 'superheroes' as I thought they were a lame premise.. still do, if I'm honest..

    Re: Heroes

This is one of the best series that I have watched and cant wait of the next one. For all those watching with the beeb, it just gets better and better which will make it even more frustrating having to wait a week in between episodes!

Cant remember what happens in ep 20, so will take your word for it.

*heads over to TV.com to find out...*

    EDIT;
after finding out, agreed with a good ep 20

    Re: Heroes

    ---- Possible mild spoiler ----

I watched Heroes on FX I think. I enjoyed it because it had that Marvel-ness about it, where not all black is black and not all white is white and goodies die and lose fights and lose heart. They are 'real' superheroes, with superhuman abilities and human failings. I thought the ending was perfect and cannot imagine how they will make the second series, since series one finished pretty conclusively.

Dexter is fun. Sometimes he is a little too much a nice guy, he is supposed to be a sociopath after all, but I can forgive him the odd occasion where he thinks something like "If I had a heart it would probably be breaking now", even though it's arse for a sociopath.

Yeah I've been watching this unfold and wondering how the writer(s) will manage to keep sympathy with a central character who is, on the face of it, a completely antisympathetic figure! So far I reckon they've done it pretty well, though it's going to be a difficult balancing act - they make him a discerning killer by only targetting the 'bad guys' and I find the relationship he has with his emotionally-damaged girlfriend fascinating too. Definitely one of the most interesting series I've seen in a while.

I keep giving Heroes another week but so far it's really not grabbed me like I hoped it would. I tried for the first 3-4 episodes when it was on satellite but it didn't get me hooked and a friend of mine texts me to remind me it's coming on BBC2 (she's a huge fan) but I'm still not really getting it - I really wouldn't care if I missed the next episode, for example whereas I definitely would mind if I missed Dexter, which reminds me, I'm away on Sunday! Arrgh! Must get video arranged!!

    Re: Heroes

Heroes is a brilliant series but was let down by a few things.
1.The annoying American at the start of each episode saying what has happened, makes if fell like it was made for a idiot audience.
    2. The stupid music they play when something big happens.
    3. It was a bit too long for me i think something nearer 10-15 episodes would have been better.
    4. The whole idea that the world ends if new York blows up.

Apart from that it was the best thing on tv for a while.

I've managed to see all of the Dexter series already and it does get even more interesting towards the end. Messed up though lol

Maybe we should have a seperate thread for this lol

    Re: Heroes

One of the better series - and yes, I like the fact that not all the characters are "goody two-shoes" - even the "Good Guys"

(Although it's not just Marvel that do this... look at Black Adam for a DC example of a character with issues )

    Re: Heroes

Can't get into heroes, watched five episodes and that's enough for me.

Haven't seen dexter yet, but have read the books the character is based on, hope it's better onscreen than heroes.
