Do YOU have an X1900 class Radeon?

    Hi guys,
CAN WE USE YOUR RADEON X1900 for a little bit pls?
All we want to know is:

Do you have an X1900 class Radeon card (yes X1950's are fine)

Please post below if you DO, and keep coming back to check the thread.

REASON? HEXUS has a Folding Team? What is Folding? It's a scientific effort, globaly run by people's PC's, to "fold" proteins to help medical advances.
CPU's are ok, but it turns out, 3d graphics cards are better. WAAAAAAAY better. (PS3's are so fast it hurts, but we're not doing that quite yet)

And ATI have been including some little "hooks" in their drivers recently, to enable people to FOLD PROTEINS.

And we'd like TEAM HEXUS to rocket up through the ranks.
I've been doing it myself a for a few months, and an X1900 is good.
So I'm gonna ask....WE'RE gonna ask, to borrow your gaming rig's power, online, for 24 hours.

You can still surf, and work, but not play games on it, in that 24 hours.
Cos we want to get right up , way up, into the top 2000 teams, worldwide.

    So...to begin.

Who has an X1900 class card?

EDIT: I'LL EXPLAIN HOW LATER just wanna know who's got one and is up for a bit of sharing?

    EXPLAINED HERE :http://forums.hexus.net/showthread.php?t=116583

maybe just a general round up new people, rather than some sort of 24hr push that will see hexus sink back to where it started from afterwards

According to that link, they're not.

209989 Active PS3 CPUs gives only 579 TFLOPS,
696 Active ATI CPUs gives 41 TFLOPs.

So that gives 0.00276 TFLOPs per PS3 CPU, and 0.0589 TFLOPs per ATI CPU, or put simply, the ATI is 21 times faster than the PS3.. (ok, only 3 times if you say the PS3 is dedicating 7 CPUs)..

But I stopped folding because the deadlines were unreasonable for idle use.

I thought your stats were based on points, which don't have much bearing on speed (though arguably if your aim is just to get points, that's all that matters I guess )

    COME ON.....Roll Up Roll Up.

Who's got a Radeon X1900 or similar that can be running a little bit of software for 24hours?

    hands up in the back!

Firstly:So "GPU" in the link = ATi gpu? that was something i was not aware of.

And secondly: I agree it's probably more practicable that people leave their PC's on of this rather than their PS3's on all night running folding@home.

BTW what GPU is inside the ps3?

Finally: great thread with all the computer users on this forum, should be easy to move up the rankings

Yeah - ATI GPU is the only one that can run Folding.

nVidia RSX (roughly 7900GT class). PS3 folding is all done on the CPU rather than GPU.

Yeap and it's for a worthwhile cause rather than running spectroanalysis software on radiowaves looking for alien communications

Imagine if more people ran it for 'more' than 24 hours - for example when they are not using their PC's for gaming etc we'd be top 1000 in the matter of weeks
