    Are the neighbours dealing?

    So...

We live in one of these typically modern day flats in a nice area. Our neighbours are ok and cause no problems, but... we're undecided.

Almost everynight there's a new visitor to their flat, they come in hang around for 5-10 minutes then do one. You can imagine the type aswell, clapped out corsa's with badboy exhausts.

There's a different car each night, sometimes the same one returns. It's always later on aswell. More often than not only one person gets out leaving passengers in the car, giving the impression theyre not expecting to stay long.

If that wasn't enough, theres always a constant smell of weed.

And when these car's that have visited drive past at another time, they always beep.

Do our neighbours just have lots of friends or is something fishy going on?

Sounds suspicious - worth a quick call to the police (non-emergency number)?

    Re: Are the neighbours dealing?

On the other hand a little bit of weed isn't going to cause you any problems whereas a busted (and unhappy) neighbour might. Remember that it's legal in Holland and they don't get problems.

To be honest, I tend to have a laissez faire attitude to stuff that isn't going to hurt anyone. I mind my own business and expect others to do the same. If it were crack or worse (is there worse? I guess so.) I would say that a tip to the police was immediately called for, but grass? My granddad used to smoke dope for his arthritis.

    Re: Are the neighbours dealing?

I dont have a problem with them, the weed, or whatever, but more the undesireables that turn up.

That said, nothing bad has actually happened...

Thing is if they're into it and dealing, chances are it isn't just weed.

    Re: Are the neighbours dealing?

However how do we know it's not dealings with crack ??

At the end of the Canabis is just the stepping stoen onto other drugs (well ok not to everyone but you know what I mean)

I've got a bit of a closed minded attitude towards drugs, mainly because when I was at college someone tried to plant some on me so that I'd get kicked out of college. I caught them rifling through my coat pockets after a visit to the gents, was not very happy so had them thrown out of college.

    Re: Are the neighbours dealing?

Don't be surprised to be woken up with a bang at dawn one day as the Police kick-in your neighbour's door! (Happened to several friends of mine, one lived next door to a crack kitchen!)

I'd be unhappy about it too - you don't know what they're dealing and who'll be turning-up - however, sometimes it's better to let sleeping dogs lie and all that kind of thing... my views towards drugs are more liberal. You can smoke and drink yourself to death so I don't see why you can't drug yourself up as well - IIRC most drugs were banned/classified due to fears about negative effects on national productivity around the time of the Great War - someone with a bigger brain may be able to give more details on this.

Having said that, I really wouldn't be happy if I was living next to a dealer.

    Re: Are the neighbours dealing?

The big question is weather or not to get involved...

Right after woman trouble, neighbour trouble is right up there IMO.. you can't divorce your neighbours

    Re: Are the neighbours dealing?

Definitely illgeal of course - the problem comes from what's the best course of action. I've intervened in a couple of situations and the subsequent handling of it by the police has made me doubt I'd ever do it again, even though it was right to get involved.

I suppose the balance is whether it's worth the risk and hassles of reporting them balanced against the risk and hassles of having them dealing next to you. If you do report them then don't be surprised if you end up sitting next to them in the police station - that was one of the joyous processes I went through.

I'd agree - it could be a slippery slope..........things could get far worse if you shop them.

On the other hand what if its more than weed..........

    Re: Are the neighbours dealing?

It's quite possible that they're dealing in more then canabis - but either way it's still illegal, and if they want to do it legally then they could always move country

    @djfluff - great pics!

    Re: Are the neighbours dealing?

See this is it, at the minute, as they've not caused a serious problem I'm happy to ignore it. Maybe someone else will report it - Who knows...

It's certainly not worth getting involved yet i dont think. We're probably out of there in 6 months or so anyway.
