    Flying Iron Maiden

Just got my holiday tickets through (Tenerife for a week in a fortnight's time).

Turns out one of the captains for the airline we're flying is BRUCE DICKINSON, Iron Maiden front man.

While I doubt we'll be aboard the 757 he flies... how cool is that!?

Hes been flying for years, first read about it when Seventh Son was released. It would be extremely cool if he was your pilot on that day!

Is he still flying for Astraeus ?

I flew with them to Egypt with a mate of mine who was just finishing his Line Training with them. It was his first flight with people he knew on board , and to date his 2nd worst landing.

I believe he is, I must admit I'd not heard of them until I read about BD's flying career!

What was your friends worst landing then, and what was so bad about your one to Egypt?

    Re: Flying Iron Maiden

We bounced into Taba airport apparently the runway came up a lot faster than he was expecting

I belive his worst one involved landing at birmingham without flaring. they had to replace a lot of tyres.

    Re: Flying Iron Maiden

^^ someone at Uni ended up doing that in 1st year IIRC.

It was a special competition where Bruce flew, and the rest of the band formed part of the cabin crew!

Would've been awesome, especially if it was flight 666; "Scream for me Flight 666!" - would've gone down wonderfully I expect!

    Re: Flying Iron Maiden

My mum was flown by him a couple of years ago, and went and got me his autograph at the end of the flight (which I think I've lost now, stupidly ). Apparently she was the only passenger who bothered, and she said he was very nice.

    Re: Flying Iron Maiden

I have a lot of respect for Bruce. He's a smart, motivated guy. I read some of his his books, which admittedly weren't much cop. He also fronts probably the worlds best metal band. Maiden basically defined heavy metal from the 80's onwards.

I have seen them 4 times only, but they were the second band I ever took my daughter to see.

    Re: Flying Iron Maiden

I gues that being a Maiden man doesn't take much time these days. Fly to Download, play for 2 hours, leave. Next weekend fly to Graspop, play for 2 hours, leave. etc.

Still, I saw some harsh comments following this year's Graspop. Perhaps Bruce will have to heed the Reaper and slow down a little.
