    Outnumbered

Anybody been watching this sitcom with Hugh Dennis and Claire Skinner on BBC One?

The sixth and final episode is on tonight.

Now, despite it being Hugh Dennis, who on Mock the Week comes across as a bit of a cheesy git; turns out he's actually quite good.

But it's the kids that are magic. A lot of their stuff is improv'd, which makes it all the more realistic and hilarious.

Nothing ever really happens in it, which somehow makes it funnier still.

If anyone missed the last few episodes, they're available on iPlayer (for those of us fortunate not to have Virgin Media )

    Re: Outnumbered

    Steve, I worry.

This is to all but the most middle class of untrained eyes, a very safe and very average sitcom.

Hugh Dennis can deliver his lines with comedy timing, yes. He's been in the game for 30 odd years. The script sometimes (rarely, lets be honest) throws up a gag worth smiling at.

Its not Fawlty Towers, is it mate? Its nice, safe, wine drinking, middle of the road comedy - for nice, safe, wine drinking, middle aged, middle class people, to nod and smile in front of.

But each to his own. (But phur-leez... )

I mean - say its ok. Say its quite good. Maybe even worth watching. But hilarious? Really? Either your standards are very low, or you are very easy to please.

    Re: Outnumbered

If someone says Eastenders is good drama, you have to tell them its not.

    Same deal.

Its not the worst bit of light sitcom I've seen, but its nowt worth starting a thread over. IMHO.

EDIT - Now Family Guy on the other hand - that is the win. Was watching a few eps on BBC3 the other night. The script is razor sharp, far ahead of the Simpsons and other spin offs. Very funny, adult humour.

    For example:

Peter is sitting at the bar talking about how he's not doing very well with the ladies of late, cut to the TV in the bar as Tom Tucker reports on a group of Spring Break vacations found murdered, mutilated, and “sexually violated”. Peter responds:

“It’s seems like everybody is getting laid but me.”

Now that my Futurama watching friend, is teh komedy. And of a slightly higher grade than the last ep of Outnumbered which got most of its laughs from getting the little girl to say tosspiece.
