I spent Christmas in Calella, which is about 20Km down the coast from Barcelona. Took a train journey and spent one day in Barcelona. Took the tourist open top bus thingie.

I don't really have any tips but I will say it's great place, there's a definite vibe there, particularly in the Gothic quarter in the evening. It's buzzing.

The side of the town where they held the Olympics is much more interesting than the other side, that's a bit like driving down Tottenham Court Road or something

Sorry, not much use to you but I will say it seems a great place to spend a holiday.

And avoid the public toilets at the railway stations
