    Scottish football team

What on earth is going on?

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/foot...ls/6986781.stm

Now i don't follow football of any kind (i didn't even know there was a match on). But the shouts from my colleagues room told me someone scored. Didn't think it would be Scotland against France.

Allegedly Fergie threated to have Roy Keane dock Craig Gordon's wages at Sunderland if he let any goals in...

Chuffed with the results, shows what diference decent managers can make (Smith/McLeish have both done will since the Bertie 'McVogts' nighmare....)

    Re: Scottish football team

Just a typical scotland result (except when vogts was manager). We are guaranteed to beat or get a draw against the best teams in the world then lose to a bunch of amateurs.

I hope we don't have to play the faroe islands anytime soon.

Not bad at all from the sweaty socks. England win 3-0 at home for the 2nd game on the spin, and its not even the most impressive home nations result of the night, because Scotland have turned the frogs over at the Parc des Princes.

Fair play to them. Be great to have England and Scotland at the Euros.

    Re: Scottish football team

Yes they are top of the group, and have taken 6 points off le frogs.

Just seen the goal on BBC Scotland - great long distance strike, but the keeper will not be pleased. He got a weak hand on it and it just changed the direction of the ball slightly and it flew into the side of the goal.

Amazing strike from young McFadden, and the whole team played a blinder. France were the more skillful side and it showed, but sheer bloodymindedness got us through it, fantastic

    Re: Scottish football team

Good work and that. I've not been to Scotland since I was a baby but I have one Scottish grandparent- and he was apparently very proud to be a Scot. So if they get to Euro 2008 and England don't then I feel that I have just cause to cheer them on, being 1/4 Jock.

I wasn't really paying much attention to the England match tonight as we had an American visitor to entertain but from what I saw I thought England did pretty well. Enough to save McClaren's bacon at least.

Ex motherwell player, and a decent enough player, wonder who is keeping him out of the squad down there, and we'll see if that goal makes any difference

Darren Fletcher looks pretty crocked too, wonder what Alex Ferguson is gonna make of that

    Re: Scottish football team

Well AJ arriving didn't help his chances, but he was out for a lot of last season and needs to play his way back into the team really and secure his place. Then we broke the club transfer record for Yakubu, so thats another place in the queue he has to jump. And we have Anichebe who came on as a sub against Bolton.

He'll get his chance, and this goal can't do any harm.

    Re: Scottish football team

When you get woken up at 1:30am by drunken renditions The Flower of Scotland en masse, you know it has something to do with a sport result. And it wouldn't be rugby.

I was actually interested in reading about the match - seems like our goalie should've been man of the match .... but yeah, never would've even imagined Scotland at the top of group consisting of the 2 world cup finalists!

.....and we'd probably still end up not qualifying!
