Re: iPhone launch details released
Sure (I've got a Wii, 360 and a PS3!). And my verdict is..........they're all different but my kids play on the wii the most. The xbox360 games are better than the PS3 and the PS3 is mainly used as a Blu Ray player! and TBH I don't really view them as competing products in the same wat the PS2 and XBox were.
Just texted a friend in the US.........................

download at 56k - 'edge' should provide about double that.
The o2 'iphone tariffs' have unlimited data download (* Subject to fair use policy) I'm not sure what the o2 'simplicity tariffs' would cost for data. What might be more interesting if you could get a 3g simcard on the iphone tariffs - add a data card and put it in a laptop ...
At £35pm I'm sure you an get a N95 for zip, I'm not sure the total cost of iphone can be justified - just like cannot justify the cost of a Bentley - It might just be me.
Re: iPhone launch details released
The american tests of the iphone connected with EDGE show data rates of 36k to 200k (the theoretical rate of 4 threads) depending on distances from cells
The iphone tariffs do give "unlimited data" equivalent to "1400" web pages a month. I suppose this might be 100MB. (1GB of data from 02 costs £70 normally)
I assume they have given the data concession to apple because of itunes downloads (are these part of the limits?). I am not sure whether the iphone will connect via USB and work as a modem from the PC-or even via bluetooth.
It seems possible to buy a US iphone, not register it and modify it to take another SIM. I suspect that o2 will make sure that this is not possible in the UK but buying it in one place and connecting in another seems a precarious business model. However it is possible to buy a subsidised sky HD box and not connect it (subscribe to sky) so others have attempted the same deal and are clearly not losing much money.
The idea of upsetting the "apple" cart(el) and connecting via some other means is very tempting.
Of course the 40% of revenue o2 have to give to apple, presumably in additition to other fees, is the reason for the high monthly tarriffs.
