Read the Wheel Of Time books?

Well the author, Robert Jordan, died on Monday aged 58.

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/6999578.stm

He was a cracking writer, but I really feel sorry for those who didn't give up after around book 9 of the series, and waded through some seriously heavy 'fantasy', only to find that they'll never be able to finish the series, since RJ died before finishing book 12....

    Oh well.

Don't think the books are 100% finished. He spoke for 2.5 hrs to loved ones outlining his resolution of the story.

That is really sad news, he was a fantastic writer. I knew he had been ill, he'll be missed by many I'm sure.

The WoT books were amazing and I sincerely hope that someone is able to finish the books in his memory. Apparently he's made sure that the series can be finished with lots of audio tapes outlining the story line and character resolutions.

I've read them all the way through a couple of times now, second time because it was a couple years in between releases and I forgot what happened in the previous books.

    RIP Robert Jordan

Some of them were excellent, some were dry and dull, pure filler.

Always sad to hear of an Author whose work i enjoyed passing on tho

I recently bought David Gemmels last book, and i can't quite bring myself to read it yet, knowing I will never get to enjoy another new one.

I can't remember what number I reached before giving up. Reading the series was a bit like eating a sawdust cake. Bummer though. 58 is very young these days.

Re: Read the Wheel Of Time books?

I've only recently finished book 11 so I was looking forward to the, promised, final book. Hopefully he'll have done enough work on it that someone else can finish it. I think he had been suffering with some sort of blood disorder for some time.
