    Is the truth out there?....

Well I've been pretty on the fence on the whole " Have we been visited by UFOs / Extra Terrestrial life?" issue for a long time, but I came across this video that shows a press conference held in 2001 to tell the world that a group of 400 current and ex military and government representitives have given evidence, 21 of which came forward in the conference in public offering to give evidence under oath to the US Congress of their encounters with what they can only describe as technology and experiences that are not of a human nature....

....Since watching this film I was slightly un-nerved and for the first time I feel I actually believe that although I think other life must exist somewhere in the universe, we may well have beenand are visited by beings not of this world. Thats not to say I am not still sceptical, but it sure puts a rather more authorititive twist on the issue than the stereotype of an interview with a hick-american telling us about the lights he saw in the night sky....

    http://stage6.divx.com/UFO-CHANNEL--...ess-Conference

The press conference is freely available to watch and It is well worth watching yourself and delving more into "The Disclosure Project". There is lots of other information about this and other related stories on the net, but this seems like a good place to start.

Would love to hear your thoughts on this and sorry if it has already been previously discussed.

Re: Is the truth out there?....

Is there other life in the universe? Definitely. Are they coming here in craft? That's a whole other ball game... my view is that it's possible but where's the real evidence for it? At best it tends to be anecdotal and as a result we have to rely on testimony and that is often unreliable.

A good friend of my family saw a UFO so I keep an open mind on it all. I suspect a lot of sightings are simple misidentification, a number is probably military technology but there's also a small proportion which can't be easily explained away.

All things are possible in an infinite universe, I suppose..

UFO Files on the History channel is very interesting if you ever get a chance to watch it. It will make you think about things since there is a lot of evidence to suggest weird goings on.

One thing that really gets me thinking about the whole UFO/ET thing is that just about every US president since the 1930's has been briefed on the UFO phenomenon. After watching a lot of programs on UFOs over the past 5 or so years I have come to the conclusion that there is definitely something going on deep within the American government that no one bar a privileged few are allowed to know about. If there isn't something big going on then there would be no need to breef the president on it. I am not saying they have alien technology or aliens captured/living in a secret underground facility, but they could have technology that is so top secret and advanced that the world won't get to make use of it for decades to come.

Re: Is the truth out there?....

From a sceptics point of view, isn't wishing there were aliens out there simply another way of channeling our "need" for God??

After all, human society thrives on us being able to make ourselves feel just that little more powerless and responsible for our actions and we all need a way everyone once in a while to escape from the truth that we alone are responsible for what we say and do.

Re: Is the truth out there?....

I really dont understand how it is linked to God? I am a so called religious "non believer", But I am perfectly willing to accept the idea that there may be other civillisations out there that have the technology to make it to our planet. Its not really to do with wanting to feel insignificant, Its about wanting to know if there are other planetary civillisations out there somewhere amongst the uncountable number of stars in the night sky. If you want to feel powerless all you have to do is look at the other apparently powerless 6 billion people on this planet, theres no need to look to space!

Theres no easy way of knowing the answer, and theres of course going to be ways to explain away many so called UFO sightings, but surely of the 10s of thousands of officially acknowledged sightings, there must be proper explanations that have not been disclosed on at least a tiny percentage of these occurances.

This particular video is 2 hours long, but there are many others out there if you want them. This one I felt fairly significant because it is not a discovery channel documentary, and seemingly alot more credible. It is a conference demonstrating a small number the 400 testamonies of seemingly reliable witness' that are prepared to share the full extent of their experiences if the appropriate levels of government were prepared to listen. Why would Military generals, commanders as well as high ranking intelligence, FAA and other government officials, want to falsify information infront of the US congress?

Re: Is the truth out there?....

The existence of God is completely and utterly irrelevant. With or without the existence of God it is possible and very likely that somewhere in this vast Universe life and intelligent life at that exists. The Universe is simply too big to not harbor another kind of life and to be honest, who the hell are we to think that we are so special and so significant in this universe that we are the only intelligent life around.

Is there another source for this video. Divx web plugin keeps crashing every time I try to play the video.

Re: Is the truth out there?....

I had that vid playing in the background whilst I was surfing. Most of the evidence is anecdotal and very little of it would actually point to alien-beings visiting and co-operating with the US government. The only testimony that I thought was striking was the bloke who said that they had categorised 57 varieties of aliens (yes I thought of Heinz to). The big problem is this

U.F.O stands for Unidentified Flying Object and that's all. Just because something is unidentified does not mean it contains little green men. Unfortunately UFO now means aliens or a saucer to most people.

So anything that does not have a fuselage and wings is identified as a UFO and then becomes "of alien origin". People just aren't very good at identifying and then use their folk-law, last night's TV, gossip, red top rag to fill in the blanks. Infact it's just as bad when someone sees something unexplainable then forcibly uses a known concept to explain what they have seen.

I have absolutely no doubt that the US military has got some pretty amazing stuff that is 30 or 40 years ahead of anything we know about and this may well include saucer shaped craft, manned or otherwise.

I'm not doubting you, but it's an argument that I can't get my head round. If it were true, wouldnt they have been in and out of Iraq/Afghanistan by now, taken the oil and killed bin laden with a lazer and not lost so many troops?

Or maybe they have used their super weapons and they turned out to be rubbish?

Re: Is the truth out there?....

Yeh where did god come into this disscussion lol... Anyway yeh i belive theres life out there when i watch nature programs it kinda reminds me how aliens might be watching us, very much like how a offroad vehicle and camera crew watch monkeys and stuff in the wild. The same could be said for aliens. As for why havnt they made contact as in like come out the sky in a big UFO and land in the middle of New York and pop the hatch and say "hello we come in peace" the answer is simple we are not ready yet because we are still at war with one another they have proberly observed our wars all of them and for something like 5000 years or whatever we are still killing eachother and all agression for one another and proberly thought well were not going down there they will def most likly try to kill us. And so they just watch and wait until maybe one day will be ready to make that first contact with another race outside our own planet. But i doubt this happen for another 10,000 years until we have mastered space travel ourselfs. But i dont belive there are that many UFOs about they proberly come and go every so 500 years or when something major happens like nuclear weapons going off which happend in the 40s onwards then somewhere in the 50s we start seeing UFO reports all over the place and mostly in where they tested the weapons ie area 51 and that sorta area. But then again that could all be a cover for the military to test fly new spy aircraft to spy on those commies. What perfect cover it would be "i saw a black weird fast shape in the sky" yes thats our new spy plane that were sending to russia to spy on the baddies responds the military... hmmm yeh but what can they say ahh its a UFO a spaceship from another planet .... COOOL everyone thinks, when infact it could be just a top-secriut spy plane zooming about.

I mean for example take these planes for instance

    http://perso.orange.fr/romain.g/sr71-1.jpg

This sent up loads of reports when it was flying about commical pilots said they saw a fast moving black shape higher than any aircraft can operate. Others said they saw a large black Y shaped craft taking off from groom lake.

Another one that got a few reports was this the F117A

    http://www.machtres.com/f117a.jpg

    Or how about this

    http://images.google.co.uk/url?q=htt...zXZOhF_7aCZ1dQ

Now back in the 40-50s when nazi germany was defeated there a was a project codenamed operation paperclip which basicly the US took all the nazi brainy scientists back to the US to help with building rockets for their space program and other military stuff, as the germans had already designed rockets in the form of V2's which were fired into england during WW2. What they also found was designs blueprints for disc like shaped flying machines that could hover. There was also a designer who built a hovercraft in the shape of a disc shape and even tho his hovercraft only lifted off the ground by like 1/2 meter or something and could barely be controlled, the military were keen to take or buy his designs and nothing more was said about that. There was a good program i watched which showed all this stuff on ch4 once it had a british military reporter starting from the germans and their designs to the modern day aircraft i thought it was very good and worth watching.

    Ah found it http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...05691449249469
Hell and Fire was spawned to be released.

Well the truth of the matter is that no matter how fast your aeroplane/spaceship can go, no matter what deadly cargo or superdupa weapon system you have, no matter what your statellite (sorry I refuse to say the proper word cos Del Boy's has a ring to it) can see, it doesn't mean that you can find a tall bloke with a long nose, a beard, and a certain liking for the fashion of flowing robes and automatic weaponry amongst other tall blokes with beards and robes and AK47s.

The U2 and SR71 aircraft were spy aircraft and not aircraft designed to drop bombs. This is also certainly true of other US military aircraft, so even if the US had craft that were saucer shaped and used "anti-gravity" or "zero point energy" propulsion, it does not mean they have crystal balls to see where OBL is or whether they could be employed in Iraq/AFG to kill people more effectively than now. The real truth is if you want to dominate/hold ground then you need boots/human beings and lots of them to do that. Or you do what the Romans did and either use indigenous forces under Roman control or just wipe everyone and their cattle, dogs, sheep, pigs, chickens, children, old men and women out.

Think about the technological revolutions that have occurred in the last 60 years. Look at the MIG 15 that flew in 1947 and compare it with aircraft of the early forties. It's miles ahead. We could only dream of the "communicator" in Star Trek yet everyone has one. Not only that, but it will take photos of Uhura's arse whilst she taps her ear with that bluetooth thingamajig. There is no reason not to think that technologies far ahead of what we see now are being worked on. Nuclear fusion is a reality it's just not sustainable or commercial. Yet.

Why would a technically superior nation show the rest of the world what it has or is capable before it needs to?

I like the UFO/Alien debate. I think it shows that people are willing to look at alternatives, however, the problem remains; "what are people seeking?". And I can also see the religious/spiritual debate too, but this should not obscure people from using cold hard logic and analysis to examine the claims and use those as the basis for conclusions.

Now that I have a had a bit more time to watch the video I'd like to say that I did find it interesting, however, I feel that the number of people used were far too many and the conference could have been condensed to fewer individuals who had more detail and more compelling evidence. People claiming that they have seen photos of bases on the "dark side of the moon" should not have been admitted as this simply weakens the case.

Well I've rambled over a few topics but I still adhere to Occam's Razor. It slices and dices.

Re: Is the truth out there?....

I follow this whole thing with intrigue and have done for some years, but I had not heard of a "moon base" on the far side of the moon until I watch that video. After searching google I have found that there is a lot of information on it; I can't believe I hadn't heard about it before. Anyway, regardless of whether it is true or not it does make for interesting reading* at least.

What on earth is that? You have religion, but don't believe in God? Isn't that like throwing away the ice lolly and eating the wrapper?
