    Rugby.....

But time to talk about Rugby - Yep one of my major passions and far more interesting than the silk short sport...

So - I am a Gloucester supporter - and thought I'd spend a few minutes rounding up the season and how it is going to end up finishing.

Some background for you who don't follow the support, its very similar to that of the premiership but with a few differences.

The teams who finish in the top 4 have a playoff to see who wins the cup - 1st vs 4th, 2nd vs 3rd etc - and then a playoff at Twickenham. Last season Glos finished first, with Leciester winning the playoffs. This season Glos will 99% surely win it, with the stronger squad and finally things coming together.

They have signed some big players - one in particular who is an immovable object - Lesley "Volcano" Vainikolo, this guy was a Rugby League player, who has made the switch. Unlike Andy 'useless' Farrell he has already made an impact - with 5 tries in his opening game. I heard a transcript of a conversation which happened after a pre-season game vs Ulster....

At 1.8 Metres tall and weighing 112KG he is not going to be easy to stop....

Volcano - "Why didn't you pass me the ball? There was a space!"
Ian Balshaw - "There wasn't a space at all"

They watched the video replay - and sure enough there wasn't a space, until Volcano spouts up, points at a player and says 'there, a space' implying he can run through anything.

Anyway tommorow night is the first home game of the season (Live on Sky Sports 2 - 6:00pm) which should see Glos winning their third match of the season in front of a sell out crowd with the new Grandstand open.

And a video showing his first 5 tries in his first game...

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3--XQk5OjMw

Should be good - a home game, evening kick off....

There is another major match on tonight - which is England vs Tonga. I'm going to see the Quarter finals which should England win this mean that they are playing Australia (and very likely to be out after that point...) still - if you have not watched a game recently I'd advise you check it out....

Gloucester will never win! Wasps all the way

Although we are languishing at the moment.

And do you know what? I have a feeling that England could beat Australia. Don't know but I just have a feeling.

I had the feeling England could cause an upset, and it would be shockingly amazing if they do and I'd be chuffed to bits, but reality often sets in...

    Re: Rugby.....

Fingers crossed for the upset. (I don't think it's going to happen either but a bit of hope is sometimes a good thing.)

I have to say that I find Rugby to be a superior sport in every way to football but most people seem to disagree with me.

An interest at the moment is what's going to happen with the England management after the world cup. Will Martin Johnson be brought in? (I believe he's got a long-term feud with one of the high up RFU bods though.)

Ashton has to go - he is not going to be around for the next World Cup so he should be removed straight away.

Rob Andrews appears to be a jobsworth right now....

    You can indeed....

We can all live in the past and most people do - but why not look to the future, rather than your old.... ageing tired squad? I guess thats why you guys like the bells to keep the players awake?

    Re: Rugby.....

    ^^^

Well they gave South Africa a mighty shock, so I would say yes they can beat us but England SHOULD be ready for them having seen their last performance. They shouldn't be caught unaware.

This is England though and you can't take anything as red.

Well except the blood when Jonny Wilkinson gets injured again.
