radiohead easily being my fave band (i even have a radiohead tattoo) im going to have to go 4 this box thing. hopefully the download will be 320kbs
edit:
ok, i would of ordered but it keeps erroring and generally annoying me grrrr.
The public wouldn't know what sound quality was if it punched them in the ear'ole. It's the main reason why itunes and ipods are so popular. If I pay for a product I want the highest audio quality possible (within reason) and that goes for the music player as much as the file format.
"Reality is what it is, not what you want it to be." Frank Zappa. ----------- "The invisible and the non-existent look very much alike." Huang Po.----------- "A drowsy line of wasted time bathes my open mind", - Ride.
Just ordered the download for £0.00!
If it's any good I'll buy the hardcopy to go with the rest of my RH collection...
I think the DL is going to be the real deal.
Bands are lucky to get £2 from each sale of a £16 CD on the highstreet...
If they can sell direct for £3-£4 pounds they will make the same money and cover their costs...
If I like the CD I'll buy it, if I don't I won't - I have tons of CD's that I have bought for £15 or more that I never listen to, when I got them home they were rubbish....
Good for Radiohead!!

Wow thats wierd.
Not entirely sure why people would choose to pay anything over the absolute minimum price though. Its one thing supporting an up and coming band that you like, but supporting a bunch of millionaires would seem a bit odd. It would be like sending Richard Branson a christmas card with a tenner in it. "Keep up the good work Richard! And a happy new year." It also looks a bit cocky to give your stuff away. Its not really... its quite cool. But I'm sure some people will think it looks arrogant. "Whats next, are they going to start using £50 notes for the album sleeve?"
As someone who doesn't like them though, I am excited at the prospect of getting it for free, and then deleting it.
Uc this is what i was wanting to find out by the how much would you pay, vrs net disposable income.
Thing is, I can't understand why you would inversally value a commodity by how rich the 'group' that make it are?
That logic would suggest that oil should be free, and linux should cost the earth, you can't just ignore scarcity.

No information on the quality, bitrate, format or DRM.
You wouldn't. But still, why give a millionaire money for something you can get for free? Isn't your money valuable to you? I mean.. I love some bands so I'm happy to buy their album for a tenner. But I wouldn't buy two just to support them.. especially if they are already doing well to the point that they are all multi-millionaires.
Why does Radiohead being millionaires have to come into it?
I don't want a lossy version of the album, so I'll buy the CD when it is released. If they had a lossless download that isn't DRM crippled i would think about getting that instead. But i would definitely pay for it. If they had released it for free download without any kind of payment box that would be fine, but they are working on the honour system of payment* and i would feel obliged pay a reasonable amount for it.
*our company does the same for tea, coffee and bottled water. Everything is essentially free, but now and then you are expected to put a pound or so into the jar, this then goes towards company nights out.
BBC report
Most are stumping up a reasonable amount for the album.
Maybe they're using a dynamic bitrate, depending on how much you pay.
For £0.00 you get a square wave.
Was it Thom Yorke moaning quietly over what sounds a lot like a Casio drum machine factory preset, by any chance?
Just been on the website and wanna check i`ve got this right.
i order the box set and I get the new album the day it comes out digitally?
I like radiohead I like the fact that they do music for themselves instead of to appease the music industry with Ok computer they where set to become the biggest band in the world but instead of pandering to the music industry they decided to do what they wanted and came out with Kid A which I enjoyed.
If I was just gonna buy the album i would prolly give them at least 5 pound but I am gonna order the box set when I get my card
