Anyone into battery powered RC Cars here?
Anyone into battery powered RC Cars here?
I got a nitro...but my dad has an electric one!! Why?![]()
Used to be, 15 years ago.
Just wondering what people had, went out n got myself a TT01 a few weeks ago...
... Like Kalniel above, I was some 20 odd years ago. I used to race a Yokohama Dogfighter![]()
What we share with everyone is glum, and dark...
I had a Tamiya Thundershot for which I built a custom rear end suspension, upgraded all the bearings/gearbox, stuck a parma custom motor (19 quad? Can't remember!) in and various other things
Went to a couple of club open days but the car was too fast.

Battery? tsk...
I will eat your car with my Baja 5B...![]()
I have a few tamiyas. TT01 intergra type R DC5 is my latest
Used to race an Alfa Touring Car with an insane aftermarket motor in it. Battery lasted about 10 minutes but it was stupidly quick lol
I really want to build a nice petrol/hydrocarbon based RC. Not bothered about racing them, just want to build it from bits and play around![]()
I wanna play around, the main thing thats stopping me is battery life atm, gonna get a better battery, some bearings, alloy steering, alloy driveshaft, maybe a motor, not sure on what the stock ESC does tho so we'll see..
I have a very old Tamiya Falcon somewhere in my parents' house...
Yup, have had a few in my time. A Tamiya TA02 Merc C class and Celica and also the King Blackfoot. Also had a CEN nitro Ford Focus.
Don't have them anymore though, been looking into getting something though. Still have a plane, couple of boats and a hovercraft though.
A friend tried to get me into it, I've even got a Twin Detonator sat in a box that's collecting dust. Transpires both of us are just getting a bit old for it and don't have the time or notion anymore.
Although, I really fancy a go at RC helicopters.
I had a Tamiya Hornet when I was about ten.....bored with it after about a month, and traded it up for a blank firing Magnum 45 and a black widow catapult....much more fun

Same here.
What happened in the mid eighties to make every boy want to have an RC car ?. When my son's old enough I want to get him a petrol one to play around with, no way I'm going back to farting around with ni-cads/chargers hooked up to car batteries.
I think I've had the following...
Tamiya-> Hornet + Wild One + some other 2wd one I can't remember
Schumacher-> Cat + Pro Cat
Kyosho-> Optima Mid (bloody things allways understeered !)
