how do I "emulate" a space in dos?
Alt + 255 is the theory.
net use H: \\desk3\Vision shared folder /USER:desk3\share /persistent:yes
This won't work - any help please!!!

Agreed, quotes should resolve the problem. As for the validity of using spaces in names ... I remember that Windows used to offer a prompt warning against using them, due to compatibility issues, but the advice was optional.
Just use tab completion to fill in the words. It'll get it correct.
cant use tab completion if your doing a batch file
If you do a dir /x you will get the 8char folder name - which should work instead.
Actually, you can if you pipe the output from the command prompt
The latter would be the easier option though
ALT 32 = Space
DOS = FTW![]()
alt+0255 is a blank character not a space. used to use it for creating folders that people wouldn't know how to access. of course this was back in the windows 3.1 days. file manager couldn't access it either
1 million thanks to the one million answers
Cheers all - Quotes worked![]()
