Actually, it's because employment law is much more protective of workers throughout the rest of the EU than it is in the UK.
It's cheaper to lay off workers in the UK than pretty much everywhere else in the EU.
So, pay no mind to these anti-EU anti-brussels anti-straight banana Murdoch types, because clearly they hate the british working class

No, not really. Hiring is still expensive - i.e. there are skills shortages and it's much cheaper to staff a factory overseas. OTOH if you have an existing factory in France, Germany, Italy etc and one in the UK it's much cheaper to close the one in the UK because of the rabid anti-EU sentiment established by the tories and not reversed by labour resulting in the perceived need to be 'pro-business' at all costs - including the rejection and opt-out from legislation that protects workers on the continent.
One can't complain about both job losses in the UK, and the amount of EU legislation. So you are pro-EU now?
