I concur with US beers available here being pish.

I like Leffe, Hoegaarden, Grolsch and Setlla too. Though more than 5 or 6 pints of Stella and the plot starts to escape me, especially on one of those 'spirits later on' nights...
Corona and Sol and really nice with a wedge of lime, at a BBQ. Couldn't drink enough of them in the summer. Sol without lime tastes a little ropey IMO.
And if I'm just out for a social couple, you can't beat a pint of whatever Ale your local is serving. Belhaven Best is not bad, but my other local has Scottish ales on bi-weekly rotation, which is nice.

Actually, my former boss maintains that there ARE some stonkingly good real ale microbreweries over there, so there's hope yet. S'pose I should pimp his site, really.

I just don't like beer. It's either cider, red wine or spirits for me. I just find beer way to gassy and every one I have tried leaves me with a nasty after taste. Oh well someone has to keep the apple growers in business

To be fair to 'american' beers most of them are brewed over here - they're just licensing the brand - same with loads of other 'foreign' beer too... Obviously the breweries say they stick to the same recipe / aim for the same taste but IMO that's a load of s**t. I used to be a big fan of Red Stripe for example but now it's brewed in the UK (Norwich or somewhere) and it's nowhere near as nice as the real Jamaican stuff. Anyone that does like Bud should try Budvar Budweiser - apparently the original and nothing to do with Americans...
