I never considered that Godwin's Law should apply to me, so I dismiss it. However I have noticed that there is a similar tendency for serious Hexus topics to plummet downhill once the first joke is made.
There's no point in making a law about it, it is already a law of Hexan nature. I see it has happened here already, and this is a dead thread walking.

Lucio - HMCS website from my post is worth a look but I'm sure, being a techy person, you've done that already.
Write to the Court, tell them what has or hasn't happened. CC the letters to the Credit Card Company.
Judgement has been made, the defendant has to pay. How he pays is up to him, but as ikonia has said, it may never come and he'll continue to owe you more and more. If he's being particularly obtuse expect to receive something like £1.25 a month. Although, as he's a trading business, he'll be hard pressed to prove that's all he can afford.
Oh, and do not communicate directly with the defendant.

Well this is interesting, heard a rumour that he's done this to other people recently! Definately going back to Trading Standards tonight and letting them know, plus I think a letter to the shopping mall he's based in is in order.
Anyhow, stuck on the phone to the card company right now trying to get them to cough up because quite frankly, I think there's little hope for him doing anything other than mess me around...
There are various methods of enforcement open to you, Lucio, each of which has advantages and disadvantages. And each of which costs. Which one you use depends on the situation ..... and on how nasty you want to be.
You can go for bailiffs, but if the defendant has no assets, it can be difficult to seize them. You can freeze his bank account, but it won't help much (or hurt him much) if he has little or nothing in it. You can apply to wind up the company (or make him bankrupt) but if he's close to that edge anyway, it may not matter to him.
If he has a thriving business, then freezing his bank account will get his attention right quick. It's a wonderfully effective way providing his business is thriving. Similarly, the winding up order works wonders too in the right circumstances.
But all of that is really academic unless you're out to make a point. If you really just want your money back and the minimum of hassle to get it, then IMHO, you're already doing the right thing which, at this point, it seems to me is to go after the credit card company ..... because they won't want their bank accounts frozen.
Well credit card company have decided that enough is enough, they said whilst they normally wait for an enforcement order to be produced, even they couldn't get in touch with this guy over the phone and as such they're sending out claims forms in the post.
I presume it'll just be standard ones that mean I sign to say "yes, this is a full and final settlement, I can't raise the issue later"
After this is all said and done, I'm going to the papers, Trading Standards and the owner of the shopping mall he's based in and telling them what I've been through over the last nine months. I'll also suggest to the other people who are involved that they do the same and hopefully with some straight forward honesty in the public eye it'll stop him trading like this.
