Yes, it's called a cluster headache - or migraine.

Migraine headaches - aura symptoms, treatment & headache triggers

Loss of sensation (tingling nose and hands), aura (including missing sight - I lose a large chunk of sight out of one eye) followed by a powerful headache are all typical symptoms of migraine, luckily, I know that mine isn't helped by being dehydrated so a swift pint of water and a headache pill usually sorts me out.

    Thanks for your concern though.

Re: Don't you just hate being ill?

^I get them too (in later life) - I don't get too many visual disturbances it's mainly swirling colours - however I do tend to get the pain which feels like a drill going through the skull, eye and into the teeth. Or - and this is a newer development - a vice-like grip on the back of the neck/base of the skull which then moves up to do the eye/teeth piercing thing. Fun and games. :|

Mind you, a 'good' (sic.) migraine makes you feel all over ill. Migraleves (Pinks and Yellows) and Vanquish (US painkillers) usually help as does the dehydration-beating pints of water - and staying off wheat, alcohol, coffee, cheese and just about everything else that makes life worth living.

Re: Don't you just hate being ill?

    Give up...

    Wheat, no
    Alcohol, not on your nelly
    coffee, mine is decaf anyway
cheese, not over my dead body

I only get them once every few months, and have them back under control.

I find the auras entertaining actually. the loss of sight and tingling gives me a 10 min warning ahead of the headache (which is how pollaxe describes it, like a drill going through the skull) so I'm glad I get the Auras as it means I can avoid the worst of the headaches by drugging myself up quickly.

I kept most people up on xmas eve as I was coughing continually. been bunged up so much that I couldn't taste most of my xmas dinner and I'm still feeling pants today.

Cup of tea and poddiddge for breakfast and we'll see what can be achieved today.

These viruses are getting out of order, everyone seems to have it!

I'm wrapped up in my robe with a mug of hot tea - put a spoonful of honey in it for good measure.

Hope you get to feeling better real soon tiggerai

Re: Don't you just hate being ill?

I too caught flu on Christmas day! Grrr... Was worst on boxing day; massive sensitivity to hot/cold room temps, shivering, high temperature, headache, sore throat, bunged up, sweating - the lot!

I'm like Parm, I refuse to take medicine... I don't like the idea of drugging up. Instead i've just been going about life as normal and trying as hard as possible to ignore it, and focus on other things. I think that's the best way, as today, the day after boxing day; my symptoms are drastically fading and will hopefully be gone by tomorrow .

If it's greeny-yellow then you could possibly have an infection. Even when i'm as congested as the bullring on xmas eve, it stays clearish.

I've had clear for the last 5 days, but the infection is just shifting now so I'm getting coloured gunk!!

Dad says that once you get the coloured gunk that's when it's on it's way out... woohoo.

I know that my sinuses are definitely blocked, so I'm hoping that it doesn't get too much more infected as that hurts!!

Re: Don't you just hate being ill?

I'm getting the coloured stuff now too, so gross! Good to hear it usually signals the end of things though.

At least, I hope that's the case. I've got a killer ear ache in my left ear tonight, can't sleep! Thus I'm on the laptop at 0:46...

Re: Don't you just hate being ill?

Had this for a few days now and its really making me feel sluggish, the cold has got onto my stomach also making it hard to eat anything. Had to get through a 9 hour shift with it yesterday and same today. Hopefully will be able to shift it soon. Thankfully headache and other aches have gone, just need to get rid of the stuffy head and dodgy guts now.

I've had mine for 3 weeks now, another and I am off to the quacks. Sick of feeling like this.

Headaches 24/7 nose doing 80mph all day any day and crapping 3 times a day like water. Bloody horrible.

Re: Don't you just hate being ill?

    ^mmm lovely.

I'm fed up of being ill now, I've forgotten what it feels like to be well. I've forgotten what things taste like and being able to stay up without needing a 2 hour nap in the afternoon. I feel like I've been robbed of an xmas holiday again. grrrr.

I hope all the other poorly hexites feel better soon, as I know exactly how you feel.

One fed up sniffly grotty coffy choky tigs.
