Don't you just hate being ill?
I'm generally a pretty healthy person, try to eat well, keep active and I do my exercise but I sure do hate it when I fall ill. Just last week a friend of mine had the flu and I foolishly made the comment that I hadn't had the cold or flu in years, what do you know, I've now got it! :ill:
Sore throat yesterday morning, I thought maybe just a cough but it could be a cold on the way. This morning, temperature, all bunged up and throat still sore. Ugh, it's horrible!
I've had some porrige this morning and now have a nice warm cup of tea but still feel sluggish, it's so annoying. Be warned too, it seems to be going round at the moment!

Certainly does, almost everyone I know has had it recently, although I was lucky enough to get away with just a cold for a day or two.
Re: Don't you just hate being ill?
I hate being ill since I was very young. At that time, I can't eat any food except porrige because of my sore throat . It is horriable! I eagerly wanted to become healthy.
Re: Don't you just hate being ill?
It's a guy thing....when you actually think about how much 'pain' you're in, it's nothing.
We had this conversation in Banter recently, and as far as guys are concerned, we reckon it's all down to the fact that you just don't feel 100%. You've got a sore throat, bit of a cough, feeling a bit achy, and it's horrible, but in the grand scheme of things get's filed under 'not that big a deal'.
Just get on with it, worse things happen at sea you know....
Re: Don't you just hate being ill?
Hi,Parm, you should do more exercise then you may recover earlier. Hope you become healthy earlier.
Re: Don't you just hate being ill?
What I hate about being ill is that you forget what it feels like to be well again.
I was quite ill recently by some bug of some kind, I was absolutely exhausted all the time, and I'm a very healthy person who rarely, if ever, gets ill. No idea where I caught it from either. I was living off medication of all kinds, and I'm not sure if it even helped ;)
Re: Don't you just hate being ill?
I also rarely get ill, in fact - in the last 3/4 years, I've caught a lot of 'bugs' going around, but been clear of them within 2/3 days all the time, it's quite brilliant!
But it isn't nice, i'll admit - but I just ignore it and get on with what I'm doing, seems work. :)
Re: Don't you just hate being ill?
I was hoping this one would pass pretty quickly but it seems to be shifting through the gears. Had just a sore throat on Monday, runny nose and temperature followed yesterday and today I've a big headache and I'm all bunged up, grrrr.
I have this thing about medication though, I don't take any! Prefer to just stick it out so in theory I should just quit my whining and get over it. :embarrassed:
Re: Don't you just hate being ill?
Sorry, I say I rarely get ill, but I've been ill twice this year, and one of them I had to be on a life support machine for :D
I spent a fiver on some lemsip stuff, it really helped. The only downside is that it has aspartame in it ;) Just have hot drinks I reckon, they seem to sort me out when I'm ill by unclogging everything.
Re: Don't you just hate being ill?
Can't beat hot drinks!
The flu is starting to pass now, Wednesday night I was sweating buckets and that was the height of the fever. Thursday was just a long clogged up headache and today I think is the start of the turn around. *touch wood* :)
Re: Don't you just hate being ill?
Haha, I think this thread is catching because I looked at it on Tuesday and started to develop a cold by the end of the day ;) Woke me up with an awful sore throat after 2 hours sleep and we didn't have any kind of medication in the house at all.
I think my band mates gave it to me because they've been battling some kind of cold for the past 2 weeks (cough, runny nose etc), I was bound to catch it sooner or later. However, I used my usual remedy of drinking as much water as I could possibly drink during the day which has cleared the worst of the cold in 24 hours and I've now just got that funny "My sense of smell has returned" feeling ;)
Seriously, if you can stand going to to loo every 30-40 minutes, I've found nothing shifts a cold quicker. Lemsip and cough sweets are all well and good, but I want to get rid of the cold not just supress the symptoms. Oh and get well soon Parm :)
Re: Don't you just hate being ill?
I've got another spliiting headache (Pseudo-migraine) today. (started losing my sight, and the pins and needles started in my left hand and nose - usually means time to drink lots of water and take a pill)
Just making me feel very drowsy and a bit sick. sort of a bit of an out of body experience.
weird. I'm just hoping I'm ok to go raving this weekend :)

The source of the headaches perhaps? hehehe, I kid. Hope you get to feeling better real soon. :)
@wombar, hope you didn't catch it off this thread!
You're right about the water, I do something similar and drink loads myself. Still no sense of smell quite yet, but getting there.

Given your so blase about it, I presume you have some kind of condition you're aware of that causes this! If not, definately get it checked out, those kind of symptoms imply some kind of swelling pushing against the nerves...
