Just had an absolute hoot of a telephone call with my bank...
Some background:
1. bank is changing from visa to mastercard for its in house credit card
2. bank takes £2,000 from my account and pays it onto my visa credit card to give me +£2000
3. bank takes £2,000 from my visa credit card and pays it onto my un-received new mastercard
4. i get overdrawn and incurr £60 in charges so that they can write to me and tell me im overdrawn
5. 2 weeks later i get my £2,000 paid back into my account
6. 4 weeks later i receive my new mastercard credit card
7. bank charge finally appears on my statement
8. i phone bank and get passed from pillar to post
9. i visit small branch and get passed from piller to post
10. i visit big branch and speak to manager and get £60 back and the interest rate on my loan reduced
11. bank charges me the aforementioned £60 in charges again this time to credit card
And then the fun began, i phone bank and asked to speak to a manager, i then calmly explained the whole issue again, and request that the £60 be refunded for a second time. i then inform the manager that although she has agreed the bank are in the wrong and that i could have my £60 back, that i am charging them a further £60 for making an error that caused me to call them, and visit them twice, and yet another £60 for making the same error again that caused me to phone them again. i then calmly stated its not one rule for them and another for me, if they can charge me £60 twice for sending out 2 letters then i can do the same and charge them the same for the phonecalls i had to make...
To which the manager chuckled and gave me £60 + £120 for my audacity and good sense of humour and calmness in dealing with what essentially was a complete balls up on their behalf. havent stopped grinning yet lol.
