Is it me, or is the whole patron saint thing just a little .... bonkers.

Saint George (Saint George - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia), patron saint of England, nothing to do with England in any way. So how are we suposed to be so proud & how is he suposed to instill a sense of national pride?

And it seems there is a patron saint for just about anything Roman Catholic Patron Saints Index What about the patron saint of the internet, St. Isidore of Seville, or the patron saint of Insanity.... St. Dymphna

Well St Jude is the patron saint of lost causes, so we'll make do with him. I'm surprised there's no patron saint of paedophile priests though.

I think patron saints are a fantastic idea. Nationalism and religion, what's not to like?
