    myspace, facebook: the annoying network

hey people i know most of internet surfers have an account on a social network. I personally think that myspace is nothing more than an email account with a personal profile: to get in touch with people you have to write a comment or message or bullettins (as an email!!!): very poor. Facebook is more interesting but is a boreing system, very static. What do you think about? What you look for when you create an account? How to improve the them, getting dynamic?

Write all you have in mind!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Its all crap, advertise your life to peasents, then the people who add you ...

    a) you dont know
    b) you went to school with like 10 years and never talked to since
    c) goons who you dont wanna keep in touch with.

I have a Facebook account, I gave into peer pressure, I have snubbed so many people its actually funny.

An "Anti GOON filter would be a nice addition" whereby people with an IQ of <= 20 are not allowed to register.

I think someone is trying to jump onto the Web 2.0 bubble a bit late?

Re: myspace, facebook: the annoying network

I have one in the name of my dog and cat. It's so that my daughter can show me stuff easier, but no-one knows who B****** G****** actually is, as he doesn't exist.

They seem like fun for kids.

What about Linked-in? I use that to keep in touch with people I have worked with over the years. My current boss is on it and I kept in touch for about 5 years since we met, mainly vis linked-in.

I think it's the former. In the latter case you would expect a little professionalism.

Perhaps even the sort who adds the dots to their 'i's in the form of little 'o's or heart shapes. Frankly, it's enough to make me reach for the pepper spray and Largactil darts...

Re: myspace, facebook: the annoying network

They are both really useful for certain things.

I found an old friend on Facebook. Someone who I had no other way of ever getting in touch with. As for mypace, my mate is in a band, and they have their songs on there. It is invaluable.. It works as free advertising and publicity, to have their songs out there for free. People can listen to them, and if they like them, they can go and see the band live or follow the link to their website and buy stuff. But most importantly of all, it works as a mailing list too. They can announce a gig, and everyone who is interested in the band, can see when and where it will be, and can talk about it with other fans. Its amazing really.

For none bands, I'm sure it can work in a similar way, although it doesn't interest me as much like that, because it just seems like a glorified singles network basically.

But both sites have their uses anyway.

---edit--- ok I'm the only one who took the thread seriously. Balls to you all ;P
