    Check your GAME reciepts

Long story short, I brought my 360 recently and wondered why I had no points from it, after a string of e-mails I go back and check my reciepts and notice something.

    My reciept (censored for safety)

Yep, that's not my reward card number. And considering I don't have any other reward cards just laying around I can only assume the guy behind the counter knowingly swiped his own card to nick the points. The customer service person via e-mail replied after I pointed out the wrong card number with:

    Hello,

This may be why the points were not redeemed in store. However I traced your reward card through your account and have added the points to your correct card.

If I can be of any further assistance please do not hesitate to contact me.

    so I returned with:
Thanks, I'll wait for the points, thanks for your help, but is there any way of knowing who's card that is that the points got applied to originally? Everyone in this household tends to use my card. So there's no doubt it's someone else's.
I figured she wouldn't tell me, and I was right, oh well, couldn't hurt to ask.
    Hello,

    Thank you for your e-mail.

There are no details registered under the card and therefore it just appears to be a mistake.

If I can be of any further assistance please do not hesitate to contact me.

So check your reciepts when shopping from GAME and using your reward card...

    Cheeky git!
How does this reward card work then? He takes your card and swipes it through a machine when you purchase something? So he took your card off you, swiped his and gave you yours back? Did you watch him when he was doing it?

How many points or how much worth of points did he steal?

I watched him, not that much, he got it wrong twice and tried to give me just Forze once, and I said that it should really be the pack with Viva Pinata, he went away and came back with just the game and I said that it was ina pack (I know of entertainment packs from MS). So yeah, nearly didn't get my extra controller either.

    Re: Check your GAME reciepts

How does the GAME reward card work? Is it like a Boots card where you can build up your points/money off until you want to use it or do you have to use it within a set period of gaining the points?

Indeed, and you have to ask if the store allows you to use your 10% student discount. Every store inthe area EXCEPT bournemouth accept the 10% discount, no idea why. Decided to go to HMV instead next door and they DO have 10% discount at ALL stores, including online.

one point per pound is a better way to explain it IMO

I was thinking each point I had was worth £1 then for a sec lol

I only use mine on the odd pre-order

    Re: Check your GAME reciepts

You earn 10 points per £1, and get £2.50 back for every £100 you spend. If you pre-ordered something, you get double points when you buy it. Useful if you buy consoles when they first come out.

The only way I can think of spoofing your card when you are watching the cashier is to swipe your card without telling the till you are doing so and therefore it ignores the swipe. The cashier can then enter a card number manually (which if he/she does it often would be quite quick to do) at a later point. Unless you know what to look for, you would assume your card got swiped and the points added to your account.

To be honest, I have never thought of checking my receipt to make sure my card had been used or not. Looking back at some of my receipts (the Xbox one in particular), it would appear there is no foul play.

Hmm... I guess I could look that reward card number up when I'm in work tomorrow.

Of course, I can't tell you who it belongs to, but i can tell you if it does infact exist?

    Re: Check your GAME reciepts

Actually... Taking a look at the card number... It doesn't look like a reward card number in use.

Most of our reward cards start with '0302' (old EB card numbers), '1001' and '1002'.

Every store SHOULD accept a 10% student discount with valid student ID. However, some managers are stingy, and tell the staff they don't

It actually does depend on the store, I heard this from a DD himself
Ones close to uni's / colleges generally do, but its stupid for them not to regardless.

    Re: Check your GAME reciepts

We only accept student discount when the customer has a reward card - 10%.

But, did you not just go back into the store to ask why the points weren't on it..?

Oh, and whilst i'm not disagreeing with you, i'm interested in knowing how they managed to pull it off, since we just take the customers card, swipe it and give it back - not really enough time to do a switch (and to switch the cards back as well). The other option is if they manually keyed in the number themselves - ie after they looked up the number via your postcode.

    Re: Check your GAME reciepts

And its no easy feat typing in a longish reward card number without you knowing we're doing it.

And yeah, forgot to say about the 'only if the customer has a reward card' bit of the student discount.
