BLAH BLAH BLAH, RANT RANT RANT!!!!
That's just as stupid as giving Johnny Wilkinson an OBE for winning the Rugby World Cup when it was the whole team! :P
I'm not a fan of Mr Gates, I think he's the living embodiment of corporate greed and capitalism gone mad.
I'd give him a lead aspirin.
He, and his business plan is a fine example to all of us! ;) There is no doubting how successful he has been though
in all fairness his business has led to a revolution in the way people work and has saved busnesses (in the uk) millions and millions of pounds. he fully deserves it imo
I disagree... People who save people's lives should be knighted, like surgeons and people who do heroic stuff and put their lives on the line to save others like firemen and rescue workers and stuff.
Businessmen (or women) no matter how good they do should not be rewarded with even more than they already have by being knighted too... All he does is sit in a comfy chair watching the billions roll in and give a tiny percent of his money to charity every now and again (and his tiny percent just happens to be more then some can give to charity in 10 of their lifetimes)!
There's a fine line between success and global domination at all costs though.Quote:

No way should Tony give Billy a knighthood, they should be reserved for people doing something that takes courage. People like firmen, nurses and policemen. Give them all knighthoods, could use it as another reason not to pay them a decent wage. We could save a fortune on public spending.

My sentiments exactly!! Mr Gates probably just bought it off him though... ;)Quote:

I don't know whether this has been covered already, but why on earth are people who aren't even British getting a British commendation of honour (or whatever it is now)?
There's pretty ample precedent - honorary knighthoods have always been a way of honouring foreign nationals who it's felt have contributed to British society/economics etc.
Dwight Eisenhower's a good example.
