    The coming frogpocalypse

All (well, a lot of) amphibians are going to be wiped out by a virus, apparently.

Virus threatens mass extinction of frogs - Telegraph

I love the single line remark that the situation may have been worsened by global warming, with no further mention of the as-yet still unmodelable environmental phenomenon. Nice journalism there.

    Re: The coming frogpocalypse

Thats a shame, while frogs aren't exactly lovely creatures, they are generally harmless (at least to me)

The adition of the climate change angle is slick. This is like when reports started to appear that stated malaria would become prevelant in Europe because of the warmer weather. This ignores the fact that th largest malaria epidemic in the history of the world was in Siberia. Not known for it's temperate climate is Siberia

    Re: The coming frogpocalypse

And there's the fact that northern europe will likely actually cool, rather than warm

The worse thing about this article, however, not just the in-passing reference to climate change (which will be a problem, but is fairly meaningless in this reference), but that they call it a virus. A fungus is about as different from a virus as a car is from a chair with coasters (*)...

(*)This car has a male mechanic and metalsmith as the driver, a female electrician and upholsterer in the passenger seat, and there is a supply of parts in the back seats, and the boot has everything you need to set up a mine and refine metal. Thus the car may produce more cars and crew for them. The chair with coasters simply rolls around hoping to find a car to bump into to steal it's people and equipment to make more of itself.
