Okay, I understand people who are afraid of spiders, snakes, dogs etc, (basically anything that can move), but people who are afraid of inanimate objects baffle me.
It's not going to jump out and bite you, it's not going to smother you in your sleep and it's not going to savage you whilst you're not looking (at least not the gherkins in my fridge anyway). I remember seeing some TV program where some guy was afraid of Oranges and that made me laugh as well.
Seriously, if you're going to be afraid of something, at least make it something that "could" be scary (Like the tongue sandwiches my Dad eats on Sunday mornings ).
Pickles is dead, bless him, so she is a very silly person indeed.
When yer times up yer times up. Hopefully I'll go out in a more subdued fashion.Pickles was a dog renowned for his role in finding the stolen Jules Rimet Trophy in 1966.
The trophy was stolen during a public exhibition at Westminster Central Hall, four months before the 1966 FIFA World Cup in England, but was found just seven days later wrapped in newspaper at the bottom of a suburban garden hedge in Beulah Hill, South Norwood, South London, by Pickles while taking a walk with his owner David Corbett.[1] As a reward Pickles was allowed to lick the plates after the World Cup banquet.[citation needed]
Contrary to the popular rumor that he was eaten by a Cambodian family, Pickles later died by choking on his own lead while chasing a cat

There was a series of phobia programs on one of the rubbish freeview channels (yeah i know, doesn't exactly narrow it down much) where they would cure the people of their fears. I think there was a woman who was afraid of buttons. As in the ones you get on clothes. How on earth can you be afraid of buttons?

Nightmares about pickles? That would have made a great Scanner Darkly scene
My mothers hates courgettes - and I'm being serious; she freaks out and screams if she touches one, and has been sick when she ate one before.
Apparently they remind her of slugs!
