    Re: travel forum?

CMC, I use the forums at tripadvisor.com when I'm planning holidays. I've always found them to be very useful.

The software that runs their forums, and indeed their website, can be a little cumbersome but I can't fault the tips and advice that can be found there.

    Re: travel forum?

errr....lonely planet....thorn tree I think it's called. I used to use it a lot before heading off backpacking round Indonesia. It's pretty good for meeting random people while you're travelling, lots of people looking for people to travel with, or just to meet up with for a beer. Always has tonnes of people with good insight into various areas, some real specialist knowledge.

    EDIT : linkage

    +1 for Thorn Tree

Where are you planning on going? Me and the Mrs did a monster RTW trip a couple of years ago. We were out for 18 months.

    Re: travel forum?

it is and it isnt a proper rtw trip, we are only doing it for 8 weeks, we originally had planned on just going to aus for a while, but for not much extra we decided to do rtw, going to Bangkok, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney - Cairns, Fiji (nadi area), and NYC...

    Re: travel forum?

Wouldn't really rate Bangkok that much tbh. If you have time and budget, a trip over to Angkor Wat is well worth it.

the only reason for bangkok is i have a friend who is teaching in Hong Kong until the end of may, then he has to leave, so he's going to thailand, but visa only lasts 28 days or something, so i am meeting him there for 3 days before going to adelaide, its really just a meeting point for us...

Would also recommend speaking to Trailfinders - Trailfinders - The Travel Experts.

    Very very helpful.
