well, i've only just got in from one of the wierdest nights ever, and i thought i'd share it with you. here goes...:
my grandad went to visit his brother in a residential home for the blind today, a journey that takes at the most an hour by bus. he left there at 3.30pm, according to the home when we phoned them, to come home, but still hadn't appeared home by 5pm. my mom was gettin worried, as was my grandma. it got to 7pm, still no sign. at 9pm, mom phoned the police to see if they could help, but they said to phone back in 2 more hours as they couldn;t do anything about it till then. bearing in mind my grandad is 79, just had a new kneecap, has no mobile or means of contact, and had to get 2 busses back, having to change in a non-desirable location (Dudley). at 10.30, i got a phone call from mom (i was in the snooker club), askin me to come home, get supplies and walk out to find the bus he was on to give him food. the police still weren't any help typical! me and 3 of my mates went back, donned warmer clothes and more sensible shoes, got some food and a thermos for grandad and went lookin. we walked for about an hour, only managing to cover just over a mile, when i saw him go past on a bus (bearing in mind this was at 11.30pm!!). after a frantic phone call, dad went to fetch him.
all in all, it took 8 hours for him to get home, a journey that normally takes 1 hour, if that.how can a couple of inches of snow bring the traffic system to a halt?! Canada etc.. have a couple of metres of snow and they carry on fine.
i dunno, sorry for the boring rant, i just thought i'd share.
peace
p.s. i only just got in now cos i been out playin in the snow on old skateboard decks and there is NOOOO way i'm goin into college tomorrow, apparently its gonna be even worse, and i aint settin off at 6am!
